RIP Family Guy

Welp, the new Family Guy series already sucks some seriously hairy balls.

Imagine the turgid dull unfunniness of the later Simpsons series and then multiply that by 1000. If I had to guess, I'd say that Seth MacFarlane wants to be out of his contract with FOX or something and he's made this the most dull, shitty season ever. :|

MacFarlane is too busy on his movie. Probably excited that it's a massive departure for him, what with it featuring some irresponsible slacker fellow and a talking anim-... oh.

Arseholery aside, I never really "got" Family Guy anyway.

While the baby and dog were often funny (not watched it for years) the show was always mostly rubbish. Jokes where the punchline is "dumb person is dumb" or dumb person has peculiar field of knowledge" or better yet "person who extols virtue is hypocrite" stopped being funny about age 11.

I thought the last season was running low on laughs to be honest. The two new episodes I watched the other night weren't too bad, but yeah it really does feel like they're running out of ideas and getting bored of it now. Seems to have lost all the fast paced manic energy of the earlier seasons.

Anyways, it's nothing special or great but I watch it usually when I have nothing else to do and get in some chuckles now and then.

Same here. It's not exactly the most sophisticated show or even a particularly witty show. It was better years ago, but you can say that for most long running shows. I do watch it if I've nothing better to do and I enjoy doing so, a few cheap laughs or cheeky chuckles are ok by me.

Im going to hijack this thread and say watch American Dad instead because its a hell of a lot stronger and funnier then Family Guy.

I agreed with the South Park criticism of Family Guy. Spot on.

Macfarlane said ages ago he would have rather it ended series ago. Don't think it's all that bad though, and some of the new Simpsons is excellent. Not most of it unfortunately.
