Sex MMO To Be On Kickstarter

    Source is Massively.com

Sex in MMOs isn't particularly new, especially given the titillating ad campaigns that accompany your average fantasy title. Orgia Romanus is new, and it's aiming higher (or lower) than scantily clad elven babes. One of its gameplay goals "is to facilitate sexual interactions between players," according to a FoxySoft Gaming press release.

FoxySoft is the brainchild of Alex Allen, a former artist and project director at Acclaim and Sony Online Entertainment. In mechanical terms, Orgia Romanus looks to marry traditional merchant-, politician-, and warrior-centric play with sexual content. Gamers will become "engaged emotionally as they are allowed to build relationships with other players that help them advance through the game," FoxySoft says.

Full development on Orgia Romanus will commence after a crowdfunding campaign scheduled for next month. A playable demo is expected this fall.
    Well. Good job, Kickstarter.

I thought Second Life was a sex MMO.

No, Second Life was a fetish MMO, there's a difference.

Oh. Sex sucks anyway, so I won't be playing it.

Not my cup of tea, certainly... but each to their own, eh? If grown men and women want to get up to what they want to get up to in the privacy of their own homes, connected with other consenting adults in a video game, I'm not going to judge. Live and let live.

For once I agree with Unaco.

What? If I play this game in virtual world, they would try to get me to do some naughty things with other cute playmates in real world? Hey I am so intrigued.

Okay sersiously, we all know that's not gonna happen, all right? Just go meet some real girls in real world. That's not a healthy way to play games.

I think South Korea have developed many of such MMOs. Japan on the other hand doesn't seem to have any. It's true that Japan is well-known for H games, but most of them are strictly singleplayers, not one bit to do with the online world (unless, of course, if you BT to obtain them).

If nothing else, it will be interesting to see whether this falls foul of the following prohibited uses in the Kickstarter guidelines:

    • Offensive material (hate speech, inappropriate content, etc)
    • Pornographic material

Thinking about whether I would want to play a female or male character is making my boner confused in ways I have never previously experienced.

No, Althea, that's called a blowjob.

Also, I don't get how people can say sex sucks. :|

    And UnaCosa hits the nail.
I wonder if it'll actually go through, though; this is very likely to take flak from every single self-righteous prick on the interwebs by going up on something as public as KickStarter.

I'm curious to see those mechanics realized.

No, seriously. I've been part of many a MMO where the occasional mistell showed exactly why our main tank seemed so distracted at the moment. MMOs are by nature social, and put a couple of adults or semi-adults together in a glorified chatroom where they can pretend to be elves, warriors or girls, and sex will happen anyway.

So I am seriously curious as to what game-mechanics will be included to encourage that.

    Also, I love the title.

"build relationships with other players that help them advance through the game"

Sounds like Prostitution: The Game to me. Still, it could turn out to be something interesting.

I hope this gets funded just for the reaction we'll see from the Daily Mail et al. Oh noes, a game where people pretend to have unconvincing intercourse! It's like a place where people act out what they repress in every day life! Surely it will lead to kids having sex in the streets, a total breakdown of morality, a labour government and sticky patches under computer desks!

I was under the impression that such was how a lotta people played most MMOs. Hell, WoW taught me the meaning of 'ERP.'

Saints Row 2 had a diversion where you could whore yourself out for cash. It would slap a random prefix and suffix together to make a new sexual position, and you'd have to run a complicated sequence of moves to do it. It had ten levels of difficulty.

That all said, it's only prostitution if you get paid.

Sex MMOs i never really got, single player h ganes are just gaming version of porn mags or tube videos but ive never really thought it hot to have game characyers have sex in front of you. I can understand why esex can be quite erotic though so eh. I think ive given a lot away about myself there lol.
