Where would you love to get a tour of?

Bit off the wall I know, but in all seriousness if you could take a tour of anywhere, where would it be?

Being as we're on a gaming forum the obvious answer might be to say, for example, Valve HQ but while I'd be fascinated to chat to those guys I imagine an actual tour would be a fairly dull affair

For me - and what got me thinking about this - would be a Cereal factory. It intrigues me as to how Rice becomes my Coco Pops etc.

Nah. I'd probably still go with a developer, though I think I'd eschew Valve for someone like Rockstar, Bioware, Ubisofts watchdog team or Dice. Albeit Valve have made some quality titles over the years I'm not sure they are as relevant to game design as they used to be. Their influence/presence these days is largely through Steam more than through their products.

    Seconded.

Also, the Firefly TV series set, even though it no longer exists. They actually built a full scale spaceship complete with cockpit, crew quarters, mess hall, engine room, cargo bay, sick bay and shuttle craft, all linked together by corridors, stairs and gantries as if it were an actual ship. Simply walking around that would be amazing.

Weta. I know about the (free!) Weta Cave museum but it's on the other side of the world and I'd also love to visit the actual workshop and the digital studio.

Prypiat/Chernobyl. And yeah I'm aware that you can actually do that, but it's in Ukraine. No offence guys, but I don't really want to go to Ukraine. Also the Titanic wreck!

To be more realistic and to mention something I actually plan on doing: Gallipoli and the Somme/WW1 Western Front.

I reccomend Ypres as well, if only for the excellent museum, the Menin Gate, and the extraordinarily good chocolate.

Oh I would love to get a tour around the ISS. Probably with overnight stay, although who is to say what "night" really means...

You can certainly do the second (our uni has a yearly trip there, I'll have to drag myself along next year) with the bonus that it's in a really pretty part of Switzerland/France. Also, the Arecibo website has a big link to "Visitor Centre" and an even bigger bit of text on the next page saying "COME VISIT!".

As for myself, getting down to La Palma to visit the observatories there would be awesome - with any luck, I'll get on the uni trip to there next year!

I was going to say Arecibo or the Very Large Array in New Mexico. Also:

The Museum of Computer History which I didn't have time to check out when I visited Mountain View, California.

    Akihabara, Tokyo.

    Churchill's war room, London.

    The underwater observatory, Haifa, Israel.

    Mount Rushmore.

A few places I always fancied going (not that I would want a tour, but still like to go). Iceland, Tibet, New Zealand, Antarctica, Grand Canyon, Victoria Falls, Hoover Dam, Venice beach and the moon.

Apart from Europe the only notable place I have been in the northern tip of The Sahara desert and the place where they filmed Star Wars (but was too young really to remember).
