On those premises , the match wasn't going to go well... In fact, Ganders was so upset he had a heavy hand when adding lard to the royal pineapple & seafood sauerkraut. And everyone was feeling rather bloated after the 3 course pre-match meal. It was hard to focus on the game in those conditions and Sovereign Right clearly didn't leave the Fruitcakes any respite!
And the rest is history. Perhaps the most entertaining match played in the last seasons, and we're glad to have contributed to it!

Well, to be fair, I didn't lose a treeman like Preston John did! (Sorry, I didn't mean to hit so hard... Just hard, but a bit :P)
In fact, no a single long term injury, and that's for me a little victory :)
I didn't play any game against Chainsawhands, nothing happened. If he suggests we did, he's lying. I need to go and lie down.
Not a great start for Elf Harm against duff's Brucey Bonus - duff chose to receive, and my Blood Bowl promptly crashed in protest. A swift match-reset later and I won the toss and chose to kick, which apparently Blood Bowl was fine with.
Everything from then on went... pretty well. A first-turn failure to pick up the ball by duff's runner let me grab it and score on turn 2, and then a blitz let me catch the ball and score again on turn 3. The dark elfs finally got the ball after that, and proceeded to score on turn 8. In a display of frankly sickening elfyness I then scored a 1-turn TD to go into the second half 3-1 up.
I received and, after a bad moment when I attempted to score early and failed a GFI, was relieved to get the ball back when duff failed a GFI of his own, letting me score. By the end of the match duff had run the ball into my half and had fouled my ST4 leaper off the pitch, so felt secure enough to stall for a turn inside of a cage before going for a TD. I ran my AG5 blitzer into the cage and knocked the ball loose, but sadly had neglected to position anyone to score, so the final score was 4-1.
Nuffle was not kind to duff, with several critical failures that let me get the ball, and no worthwhile injury dice to speak of - he gave my dirty player / sneaky git lineelf a -AV, but that was the only injury for the whole match.

Sounds like you had a worse time of it than I did against Alethron. 3-0 to him in a game characterised by my elves being repeatedly knocked out (or worse) by their noble brethren.
Also I picked up a MNG on my only player with tackle, fun times in elf town.
2nd loss, I'm out of contention for the league. Next i face goblins with a 14 player line up. I binned the injured ghoul and got 2 more.
So capped on all of my specialist players and with a good number of regular undead to soak up the chaos of a goblin team I'm hoping for at least 2 kills to match my all time best.
Also my zombies are nearly leveling up, will pro zombies screw up how people consider my team? :D

Taxiderm (Undead, Heliocentric) vs Dread Pool (Dark Elves, me)
I took the lead in the third turn with a straight dash up my left flank.
At this point, the weather changed, and sweltering heat warmed the stadium. For the remainder of the match, both sides ended up missing key players for a drive at a time.
Helio countered with a strong push in the centre where he manage to knock most of my team off their feet in a single turn, allowing two ghouls to scoot down the pitch with the ball. I could only muster 2 elves for defence (out of the 4 I could activate at all, because of stuns), but my Tackle blitzer and his plus-one wasn't enough. Helio scored on the 5th turn to equalise.
On the next drive he got a Blitz! and was able to catch his own kick - and in very nearly danger of taking the lead before the half was over. I managed to recover the ball but didn't have the time to reach the opposite end of the pitch before the whistle blew.
The second half was a lot messier than the first. I was outnumbered throughout due to several Badly Hurts and the sweltering heat stealing 1 or 2 players every drive. Meanwhile Helio also lost some key players (two of his ghouls spent most of the half KO'd) but he had plenty of zombies to fill the gaps.
Luckily for me Helio's ghouls botched a couple of pick-up attempts, which gave me time to insert my own players into the fray and encircle the left flank to try and reach his ghoul ball carrier. After a lot of shoving from both sides, Helio's carrier broke through the centre with a couple of bodyguards.
Thanks to my lineman with Wrestle (supported by another lineman with Guard) I brought down the ghoul and a third player took the ball up the left side before handing it off to a runner, who sprinted towards the end zone.
Despite a good tackle from a ghoul (getting a BD result which stunned the runner but not the ghoul), Helio couldn't pull back enough bodies fast enough to prevent the runner's blitzer bodyguard from grabbing the loose ball and scoring the winner a couple of turns later.
The final drive ground to a halt when one of my blitzers dodging through the LoS and blitzed his ball carrier out of his socks while still in the middle of his own half. The game ended shortly after with nothing but some more argy-bargy.
Final score: 2 - 1 to the Dread Pool
Woo! Finally, I clocked up my first win against an Undead team since I began in the DoD!
Also, I now have a third lineman who rolled a double on his first skill-up, and I'm pondering if I should take Guard a third time or not. I do wish some of my blitzers would catch that kind of luck...

Tom O'Bedlam beat my dogs (ratz) into submission yesterday in div. 4, his humans beating my skaven 2-nil. It was a close fought thing in the first half, where I had a couple of chances to score had the dice been more kind (they weren't exactly good chances to be fair, I needed a fair amount of dice rolls to pull them off).
The humans had a clear advantage in Block/Guard and Tom used that advantage to the fullest in the second half, I had set up a wide screen with the ratz hoping to exploit a weakness on either side of the pitch with my gutter runners, I soon realized this was a bad mistake when Tom manmarked all of my ratz which left me in a very poor position, and only able to get one block dice on a couple of his players. He soon got hold of the ball and got a good cage going down the pitch, which I at this point was poorly equipped to stop being just 6 players, I managed to harass him enough to score in turn 14 leaving me hopefully enough time to get a equalizer. I set up strong on the right side of the pitch and the kickoff was of course a blitz. I sent my AG5 GR to pick up the ball and attempt a throw to the LOS, he fumbled the pickup, and I now had no chance to score. Tom's humans also fumbled somewhere and I made another attempt at throwing the ball, this time the throw was fumbled and Tom could blitz away my gutter runner and walk in the ball in turn 16.

I like the divisions the way they are - 4 teams makes every match important, and as for short term goals, you've got a division to win every month! If you don't want to get promoted I'd say: tough, suck it up. The worst that can happen is your players might die; I've been playing elfs for quite a few seasons now, and the secret is to remember that it's not your team losing a player, it's Nuffle gaining a sacrifice. (And more practically, it's just going to make groovy's life more complicated, and the arcane mathemagic he has to deploy every month to reshuffle everybody is already enough to drive lesser men mad.)
Oh, and sorry Al, but I've stolen another stat up from you: a lineelf got his first level and rolled 6+4. I'm not quite decided yet on whether to take +MA or just go for dodge.

Also, I agree with ChainsawHands, this is just making too much work for Groovy. If you win often you are going to end up playing harder teams... which makes sense to me.
Yeah I'm not fond of allowing players to choose whether or not they should be promoted - it adds complications, potential choice conflicts and is a lot of hazy work for for a very local (and arguably undeserving) gain.
As for the lower end, I will happily step back from the reasonably unpopular idea of a rookie under-league or any kind of soft/bashy segregation.
I do really like the notion of arranging the league into several tiers, each with their own championship division. It would be something cool for the lower leagues to aim for while they try and climb the long ladder to the top.
There would be some extra work needed in the planning (mainly how many tiers do we have, how promotion and demotion works, what to do with returning players/teams), but once it's all set up over I don't imagine it'd make a sizeable difference to the admins' workload.
It's better than my ideas, at any rate.

Personally I don't think we need to do anything, but here's a suggestion if we do:
One idea that works in some of the Fumbbl leagues I'm involved in is to have a KO Cup between seasons - or in this case a number of simultaneous cups, corresponding to each tier of the league (1&A, 2&B, etc). If it were just the two divisions (I prefer bigger cups, but that'd escape the snappy format of the DoD as a whole), it'd be just three rounds, so would only be the same length as a normal season (probably shorter due to being less games to complete) Not sure how the Championship would integrate into this, mind, unless you lumped them with 1 and A. Needn't be every season, either, you could just have it in every fourth season or something, but it would increase diversity of opponents (a bit) and offer a minor trophy/bragging rights to aim for.
On Wednesday my Woodies faced off against MadDave123's Nurgle in what turned out to be a pretty hilarious match. Both of us got screwed by the dice, but mainly in the first half for MD and mainly in the second half for me!
First off I choose to kick and MD set up really strong on the line with only a pestigor toting freshly gained "Safe" hands and a skilled Rotter in the backfield. The kick-off result was "Throw a rock" and the Rotter at the back got K.O.'d. Then to compound MD's misery, the first move of the match saw "Safe" hands Pestigor fail to pick up the ball! I blitzed a hole in the line and got my AGI 5 catcher to pick up the ball. I then protected him as much as possible from a blitz, the turn ending when my Agi5 line-elf falls over on a 2+ dodge and K.O.'s himself. I can't remember if there was a failed dodge to blitz the catcher or if it was just unable to knock him down, but either way the TD was run in on turn 2.
Second Kick Off roll results in a Blizzard! I make claims that this will affect me more than MD (based on how a Blizzard helped my Amazons against Laneford's HEs in the Open) but MD is unsure. "Safe" hands Pestigor tries to pick up the ball and fluffs it. Again I flood the ball and pick it up with SuperCatcher. MD's scepticism about the weather helping him is proved well-founded when early on in the turn he fails a 3+ GFI and the re-roll trying to blitz the catcher. I make a pass to my Str4 line-elf and run him up towards the end-zone and score in around turn 4-5. 2 - 0 to the Hardwood Harpies.
Third Kick Off Result is Blitz! Woodies swarm through and catch the ball and run in the TD with a turn left before half time. 3 - 0. Not much happens before half time. By this point I may have lost a player or 2 to K.O.'s and had one lino BH but I have avoided the worst kind of beating a Nurgle team can dish out so I was able to field 10 players for the next half.
At some point Bright Sunshine happens on a Kick Off making it a bit easier for MD. I've got greedy by this point and want to get my Str4 lino his 3rd TD ensuring he levels up. It's all set up nicely and he's waiting in scoring range but the short pass to him is dropped despite a re-roll. Finally the Disturbing Presence has begun to have an effect. This is followed by several turns of me trying and failing to give the ball to Roid-Elf (who K.O.'d a Warrior at one point incidentally). MD is now wearing my team down and I help him by tring a 1D blitz that results in a Wardancer K.O.'ing herself as well as trying and failing to pick up the ball on the sideline.
"Safe" hands Pestigor proves that he can actually pick up the ball and despite brave defence attempts from about 4 elves trudges up the pitch - bashing all the way. MD gets him within 1 GFI of scoring on the last turn and actually considers not bothering to try scoring since the dice have been so crazy. Fortunately, he decides to and a consolation TD is scored.
Final Score 3 - 1 to the Woodies! Thanks for the game MadDave123, it truly was a bizzarre match at times!
ntw and I made the most of his day off work due to illness and the 'flexibility' offered by my day 'working' from home.
It ended 2-1 to NTW's rats, which is a surprise because he laid out half my team and might have expected to score more. In fact, the game was reasonably nearly a 2-2 draw but for a wayward pass down the line in my final turn, and a failed (admitedly risky) dodge at the end of the first half. Luckily no-one on my team died, a bunch of my players went down BH'd and the worst affected was a lineman who got a smashed ankle and -1mv. Not a directly a carreer ending injury IMO, but certainly enough to consign him to the LOS with fair regularity...
1 level up, my runner, who rolled double 6 and got +1 ST. Which is nice but also mildly annoying as I know I'll put him in more danger now and care more about losing him when I eventualy do (AV 7).
