I'm resurrecting the thread as I need another vocabulary help.


Do any of you know the name of these things?

A wall plug or Rawlplug (brand name), I think. Wikipedia says screw anchor or dowel in US English.

That word is a disaster! In Dutch a pine (as in the tree) is called a den and and apple is an appel. So, a pineapple always makes me think of a dennenappel - which in English is known as a conifer cone and obviously something entirely different:

And on the year-old pineapple conversation, those are commonly called pine cones (even when they don't come from a pine tree). The similar appearance is probably where pineapples got their name from.
