TF2 has been going strong since 2007 with no end in sight really. Despite what people may say, TF2 probably has the best community of any MP game out there right now.

I just edited my post to reflect that. Get outta my mind: There's room for only two up there.

To be fair, the Battlefields do have the CoDs beat on SP at least. Well, as of the Bad Company era and on.

BF1942-BF2142: All the same damned game with different skins
BC1: A zany singleplayer campaign where a war is started because a redneck chases gold while shooting a shotgun in the air
BC2: Pretty much one giant "take that" at Modern Warfare 1 and 2 that managed to actually be surprisingly emotional (mainly because the cast had personalities and were likable)
BF3: Probably the closest thing to a Tom Clancy style story since the third Splinter Cell.

Whereas every CoD since Modern Warfare has been "Michael Bay, the video game". Which, while awesome, isn't really worth the price of admission after so many repetitions.

Multiplayer wise, the game shifted more toward an "in your face" rather than "sniperfest with tanks" starting in BC, and that pissed people off.

That being said: I think the best approach would be to continue on the path of BF Premium and CoD Premium: Subscription-based FPSes. Do a two-tier (!) system where we have the free to plays like Tribes:Ascend and Blacklight, then have yearly subscription FPSes like CoD and BF.

Oh, to the people bitching because it is "an american story made by americans": Go suck a lemon. STALKER was an eastern european story made by eastern europeans, and those three games are some of the best of the past decade. The Witcher was a polish story (Geralt is worshipped in Poland-land) made by polish people, and it too is amazing. People make what they know.

2142 was definitely not the same game with a different skin.

Battlefield isn't battlefield anymore so I have no interest. They might as well have released mw3 with the 'counter strike' name, it would have been the same thing, the new game would have nothing to do with the old name.
Section 8 is far closer to bf1942 conquest mode than bf3 and far better (but still not good enough).

And apparently what we knew are middle-eastern quagmires.

But what's this about two-tiered subscription FPSs? Away from me, devil! My garlic necklace and silver cross banish you from here!

That would explain why 7th Ave was going the wrong way in BF3's campaign.

I figured it was self-explanatory, but then I suppose it takes all kinds.

Guess thats another for the ignore list then. Sheesh 4 years on PC gamer and never had to ignore one person. 4 weeks here and already in double figures.
I hate side quests. If you can't be bothered to write a decent enough story to fill a game, then just hire a writer that can. Enough of these filler quests that really turn an interesting game into a grind.

I am starting to think the community dyiing every 2 years is a good thing because of these servers that ban weapons. I understand that people may not like shotgun or other instahit weapons, but are part of the game. Wen these thing start to get banned, is time for another BF to reset the community to a sane beavior.

I paid 60$ for Diablo3, but I think was sort of a bad idea. No way I am going to pay 60$ for a game again, much less 70$.

Fuck this shit, I'll be playing Planetside 2 and Hawken.

I got BF3 on sale for $29.99 back at Christmas and I put around 90 hours into it. Fun game but noway I'm getting premium and certainly not if BF4 is coming out anytime soon. Won't be getting BF4 either.

Yeah. When I saw the word 'Premium' I said "fuck that" and left.
