Resources are counted flat. I think draws go to higher ranks or to who ordered it first(as action are in a fixed order this is a good resolver)

So say a relic requires 10 souls, but you sent 10 souls and 3 hellfire, that's better than 12 souls. or 10 souls and 2 darkness. But a bid of 10 souls, 1 darkness 2 icor and 1 hellfire would win.

Add to this infernal negotiations ritual serves as a multiplier to all resources, probably based on the ritual roll. (like 1*(0.01*roll+modifier)) but equation is all guesswork.

According to the manual souls equals to two points in outbidding, while the other resources contribute just one point.
So in your first example, 12 souls is actually better than 10 souls and 3 hellfire.
I just wasn't sure about if all the resources counted or just the specifics to the item.

Lol it's not that good and I've meant to play it a few times/been tempted to trade it in but the later the game gets the smarter it seems to wait and then just play it at the last minute :-) Don't think I've seen it come up in any of my previous games!
