The only thing that's similar to minecraft is that it uses blocks to represent blocks. Its mainly an RTS, looks to me like a indie stronghold more than minecraft

Looks amazeballs, this will be my second kickstarter me thinks.
I should probs do defence grid 2 while I'm at it.

The first two tiers are really confusing me. The first reads as if you get the beta updated until the game is released, then any updates after that are paid for while the second reads like you get all updates to the game included for life.
Otherwise the only difference is that you're rewarded with a demo/prototype for donating an extra $10. To my un-made mind, a demo would have been useful for me to make a commitment. Having to pay extra is quite off putting not to mention counter intuitive. I'll skip this one and see how things pan out once development is finished.

It does resemble both Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress, but it looks more like a game, whereas Minecraft and DF are toys with no goal.
But the game that springs to my mind is The Horde, a 1994 game by 3DO.
In The Horde, there's distinct planning phase and combat phase. The combat is in the form of an action game, where you control an upstart knight raised by a herd of cows.
It's a great game and a lot of fun, works in Dosbox. 4 different villages to protect, great style and humor. The video above is the very first level.
There are some awesome ideas in this game. You can call a dragon for help, but he's incredibly dangerous - his attacks are carpet bombing. The horde bait flute has to be heard to be believed.

Diablo3 is not PvE or PvP, it is PvAH. -- Tei
Oh my god The Horde looks and sounds like a delicious treat :)
I wonder if Castlestory will even do stretch goals, I mean, money just keeps pouring in.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
As far as I know, everyone gets a copy of the game. The $25 crowd gets the prototype which is what we see in the videos, the $15 dollar folk get the beta and then the full game.
The updates after release aren't paid, but they don't know if they are doing dlc or anything at the moment, so don't want to say free updates for life and then want to charge for DLC, if you get me
Also The Horde looks great, there was another one after that wasn't there?
1st time i kickstarted in 20 years (when my moped got stolen ;)
