Half Life 2 mod Mission Improbable has been completed and can be downloaded from here. Some of you may have played part 1 or 2 a while back. This is the final release.
I think Source mods are standalone these days. Once you install the mod, start or restart Steam and launch the game. Steam will then install whatever Source base files the mod needs. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Requires HL2:EP2. Pretty sure that means it's not standalone. But who doesn't own that already...

Reason: Additional info.
Lesser Hivemind Node
I can't say what happens when you don't own any of the required Source games, but Steam asks me to install HL2: Ep2 on starting the mod, so it's likely that you're going to need that one. Will give this a go tomorrow.
Love me some single-player mods. Any idea how long it is?
According to this short review, about 2 hours.
Lesser Hivemind Node
Okay, this mod went from underwhelming at the start to quite good in the middle to pretty awesome in the end. Good show.
I wish there were more 10+ hours long mods like Get a Life
See post #4.

But please do take your time to report such posts if you see them. We're trying to retain that stuff.
