The funding started less than 2 days ago is already over $500K - it's actual target is $850K (what they need to buy the lab) but obviously any more they get will go to actually making it into a museum.

I find it bizarre that the lab of one of the greatest men on earth is abandoned and about to be demolished to make a shop!! I know we in the UK are lax with our history (we have a shitload of it after all) - but the US has next-to-fuck-all and it's planning to demolish some anyway!?!?

I know we in the UK are lax with our history (we have a shitload of it after all) - but the US has next-to-fuck-all and it's planning to demolish some anyway!?!?

There are a couple of reasons for this:
1) If it doesn't involve either a war or celebrities, the general populace doesn't care.
2) We don't really like scientists, unless they were also capital enterprisers. We like Edison because he ran a good business, feared God and loved his momma. Tesla was probably some pinko commie atheist.

Hah, if you donated $3 to Tesla he would not high-five you and let you touch his moustache. He'd freak out that you were anywhere near him (at least if we're talking at the end of his life).
