Thread: Rock, Planet, Beta
18-11-2012, 08:44 PM #481
I'll probably write up a new forum post for Tuesday (given that the thread title is a tad oblique, and this is largely 15 odd pages of soon to be wiped character names).
Does any have any suggestions of decent "welcome to Planetside" short videos, graphics, pages etc.?
Given how impenetrable some of the game can be, getting new players in and not bouncing off of PS2 is gonna be difficult I think...

There was a short discussion about this a while back. The two that kept popping up were "Rock, Paper, Scythe" and "Rock, Planet, Shotgun". Personally I wasn't enamoured by Rock, Paper, Scythe, whereas I like how Rock, Planet, Shotgun can be read in a multitude of ways.
To be honest, I'm not conviced by the "keep everything with an RPS acronym" stance. But I've not seen any better suggestions?

I haven't really had a chance to take part in the betas officially with RPS, but I think keeping the acronym is important. Perhaps email Jim and get his thoughts?
Anyone know how to uninstall the beta without getting Error 1001?

Does TotalBiscuit have any videos on PS2 that are newbie-friendly?
As for name, if nothing else just go for Grand Theft Galaxy or something. Although my impression is that every RPS outfit/guild/clan has kept the RPS acronym.Steam: krusader83 | Origin: Sceptrum
Planetside 2: SceptrumVS (Miller) : SceptrumNC (Mallory) : SceptrumTR (Lithcorp)

I'm not overly bothered about name as long as it isn't too silly but 'Rock, Planet, Shotgun' seems like a good bet.
Not sure where or how you are getting Error 1001 but I followed the instructions here without obvious ill-effect:
(I see it mentions Error 1001 at the bottom.)

I followed RadarX's instructions (delete the game folder, launch version will clean up the rest). Hopefully that's OK. http://www.planetside-universe.com/s...t=50112&page=3
Downloading/running the beta installer did NOT delete any game files.
As for newbie vids, this one wasn't bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gvXlHyApxY

I really dont care if we go with planet or sctyhe. We can also just stick with Rock Paper Shotgun. It's stil fitting for PS2.
