Are there any recommended ways of getting your paws on a key these days? The curse.com giveaway was over when I finally managed to find a US proxy that allowed me to access it. Sorry in advance if I overlooked it in the thread somewhere.

Just this evening an NC galaxy landed less than 10m away from ours on top of zurvan after we'd flipped the base. Both the galaxies were being tanked by 3-4 engineers and even with a good 20 players on each side pounding on them (and eachother) they just wouldn't go down. It went on for almost 10 minutes and could have taken a lot longer if I hadn't managed to light assault my way around the base superstructure and nade the engineers from behind.
@karandraz, the resources are yours, but the periodic gains are the same for everyone. You get more resources every few minutes, and the amount you get depends on the amount and type of regions your faction controls. You can see what kind of regions give what using the filters on the map screen.
You also get a fraction of any gained xp as wathever resource is produced by the region you're currently in. I've only remembered to check when fighting in auraxium bases (I'd usually get +3/+4 for a node capture), but I assume it works the same everywhere else.

Can't access the servers right now but my name is RIDEBIRD01 as I got some random numbers attached last time I logged on. Been looking for a large outfit as that seems to be a necessity in this game, hoping this is awesome! Joined the mumble as well.
I'd like to get in on this like ridebird above, after last night I figured I might as well jump in here after the group of people I had gathered into a mini-outfit seem to have stopped playing. As an added bonus for me, I was delighted when I realised this site was purely about PC gaming. I'm OriusNero in-game (subject to change to OriusNex after the next char wipe). VS, obviously. Got mumble working!

You can follow Planetside 2 on Twitter and spam them with nice words/beg for a key, they seems to give them out pretty frenquently. Alternatively you can buy the Alpha Squad pack which gives you a beta key, plus they've also started sending out extra keys to everyone who baught the pack so if you know anyone who did buy it they may have a spare key.Are there any recommended ways of getting your paws on a key these days? I'm in! My PC can just barely run it even on the lowest of the low settings (it's like playing System Shock 1!) but I can pilot gals/libs/tanks/turrets, and do support roles like medic and engie.

Just in case some people aren't aware, there's a 1.4gb patch. The downloader also seems to be working a fair bit quicker than it has been recently, so that's a plus.
@antares Thanks for that, i was a little reluctant to spawn my own vechiles and aircraft to practice with if it was coming out of a centralised pool, that would be abit inconsiderate!

Just had a quick looksie on the PS2 forum but couldn't find anything. Is it possible to use a gamepad for flying at all? Tried using the mouse and keyboard last night and found it serious hard work.
Been having thoughts about how amazing it would be to have a proper outfit going with Armour divisions, air squadrons and so on. Would be hard to maintain but my word, how awesome would it be.
Malloy: The only way is using some sort of joy-to-key program, and it's not hugely responsive if you do. They're going to add joystick/mouse support before launch but right now you're better off getting used to mouse. I can confirm that you really can get used to it; I HATED it at first, but acclimated in a few days.
Yeah, I can't wait for controller support for vehicles - you can even see in the key bindings that it's right there with intention.
Hello there. I'm struggling to join the outfit just now (Jinnan, VS, EU1 from a couple of pages back). I've had a read through the thread and tired the HOME and F12 keys as well as the social tab. Am I missing something fundamental or am I just thick?
If any member could throw me another invite that would be grand.

Yeah, that's what you're missing - right now you can only be invited, outfits can't be publicly joined (they are pretty bare-bones).
BTW, I am going to start a US outfit soon. Since we already have an NC and VS one, should we do a TR outfit for the states side? VS is my main character, but I'm more than happy to do a TR one on one of the less-busy servers (West 3, or something).
I see that EU01 seems down. I thought they were meant to be up from about 16 CET to 9 AM CET now? Guess not. Oh well, will give it a shot tommorrow to see if there's some action. Have been in the beta since tech test, just played very little though, as unorganized and pickup play in PS2 is very unrewarding, even though I did spent a few nice hours with a couple of dudes I met.
As for my skills I can fly Scythe and Lib pretty well, and know the trajectory of the lib gun fairly well. Infantry wise I've played engineer mostly, seems neat.
I'm a complete newb (and noob), both in PS2 and here on the forums. Currently playing a guy in a tight purple suit (WutTheMelon) in the EU02 server (EDIT: now WotTheMelon on EU1), would really enjoy to play in an outfit so if there's any of you YES PLEASE : D I'll promise to try not to break too much...
