Some fairly interesting stuff in there, although not a massive amount of detail. One thing I didn't realise is that anet are going to start doing monthly 'State of the Game' posts with the first to come on the 30th.

Yeah, State of the Game posts are a great way to keep the lesser informed community abreast of developments [I am a lesser informed community member, as I played 1-2ce a week]

TLDR:
They plan some paid expansions, but he's really vague about it, emphasizing how much they like monthly free updates. Yay for us!
Jan + Feb updates are going to be huge and together be like an expansion.
The Feb update is going to expand WvW.
Mac port in progress, Linux port not planned. No console port either.

Concerning the Fire Elemental Powder, I think it costs a tiny bit more than 1 silver. Also, it summons an Ember that follows you around (like a summoned Fire Elemental) and scales to you level (or the zone you are in apparantly, from experience I'd say whichever is lower). It is useful if you can keep it alive, as it offer some nice extra damage output.

Oooh, that's nice. I saw a couple of those while levelling but didn't think to keep using them past that point. I should go back and stock up on a few of them.

No quick launch bar though means you've got to open your inventory to use them though which is a pity.

As discussed yesterday in /g-chat, we might do guild events or guild running services for people that would like to acquire these items with a lower level character (for easier leveling for example). I did the run to the NPC that sells Fire Elemental Powder with my level 30 Guardian, the trick is not to get hit by anything. Alternatively, have a few friends with you that beat up the higher level meanies.

Yeah, I think we'd need to have one high-level participant for the Fireheart Rise run, since there's a chance you'll have to push a couple of events before the Elemental Powder merchant is available. But I'm sure one high-level character would suffice to protect several lowbies.
