I love gs, forums are full of trolls.

And what a gem that is...

As a main weapon to use all the time - yes. As a ranged option when you need one it's fine.

In WvW, GS #5 alone makes it worth using from time to time. *swoosh - wheeeeee - splat*

Dungeons need more 100 metre drops. Only one I can think of is cliffside fractal where they respawn too fast for GS5 to be useful even if it worked...

Oh gods yes, the ability to knock PvE mobs off cliffs would be so awesome. They could remove any drops and XP gain from such kills as long as it was possible.

When this has come up before, the dev complaint has been that it shouldn't be possible because the mobs aren't clever enough not to stand next to the edge of sharp drops.

Loot is out of the question, of course, if the corpses are at the foot of a fatal fall

There are some crap builds on official forum, but also a few gems:

    WvW roaming:
    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...-Roaming/first

or easier to survive but a lot less able to kill stuff:
    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...tion-WvW/first

For WvW group fights it's usually standard to go for along the lines of a shatter build (20-20-0-0-30) with Greatsword + Sword/Focus with a good amount of Vitality/Toughness. Although a glamour/confusion build will still work for tagging players for lootbags, even if the actual damage output is very weak now.

Osciat has decent builds, albeit gradually going out of date:
    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...ted-16-8/first

For spvp Sensotix has good stuff:
    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...llection/first
and this is more or less the current spvp meta build (with runes of Lyssa):

Hehe, good to see all the names and builds that I've got on my list mentioned here. Osicat's builds are mostly focussed around shatters and he has some pretty well done videos on his youtube channel (and webpage) showing basic and a bit more advanced gameplay. Even if the builds themselves aren't cutting edge anymore, there's a lot of value in studying those.

In a similar vein, Sensotix has some done pretty decent 1v1 videos, I just wish he would comment a bit more on the why and what he's doing from moment to moment. Still great stuff!

The Blackwater build is great, but suffers from lack of burst and no way to stop runners. On the flipside, properly played, it is unkillable. That's the problem of condi-bunker-PU mesmer builds anyway.

I used the WvW roaming build quite a while, it's good, but it wasn't spectacular and I don't like the stat mixing of direct damage with conditions that much.

Atm I'm running a hybrid phantasm power/crit build with restorative mantras that I will get round eventually to posting - I'm loving it.

Empowering Mantras was moved to Domination for some reason.

Mantra build with phantasmal warden: 6/4/0/4/0
Mantra build without phantasmal warden: 6/4/0/0/4
Lupicus build to maximize feedback damage (in a group situation): 6/6/0/0/2
    Full phantasm build: 2/4/0/4/4
You'll want to pick the 6/4/0/4/0 for most dungeons, I reckon. If you don't need the reflects, maybe play another class instead of retraiting.

It's so heartwarming someone takes the time to list all the mesmer bugs every now and then: https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...pdated-July-20

I'll quote this to anyone complaining Perp Runes are overpowered.

    20. Perplexity Runes

This is less a Mesmer bug than a general game design bug that in order to make certain attacks unblockable they are treated as coming from the player and benefit from that players rune and trait effects.

I agree mes has a lot of issues though, and shall blame these rather than my inability to be remotely competent with the class.

At least if you're stone you won't be able to do anything and therefore not take damage from the confusion...just everything else

Haha, that's great. Sort of makes sense if you think about it...
