I literally cannot Google that game without tons and tons of porn from the game showing up.
    Second paragraph of the description:

You may have heard of BoneTown as an adult title, but in an attempt to bring the game to a wider audience, we are creating an M-Rated, clothes-on, non-adult version to release on Steam. The game will retain all of its hilarious and outrageous content, but this time, to keep everything M-Rated, and not break Steam’s content restrictions, the clothes will stay on and other minor changes will be made.
Still... Why? These games are usually never that funny.

They way I see it? Try to attract attention to the adult version. 100$ spent on advertising their adult game. And probably, 100$ well spent.

Isn't sex like 50% of the game anyways? Doesn't making it fully-clothed defeat the purpose?

The greenlight bans aren't about quality. It doesn't count as an Ao rating, so it is up to the people who vote on greenlight (all five of us :p) to decide if it should be allowed.

Hell if I know. But the description clearly reads "this isn't our adult game, it's the same sans adult content". You can bet bazillions of people then rushed over to check the adult version.

Gaben explaining where he wants Steam to go:

    http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/01/newe...ing-to-anyone/

Steam is just a whole bunch of servers, and a whole bunch of network bandwidth, and if people are interested in consuming the stuff that you’re putting up there, than a collective good is going to be there. So rather than us sitting between creators and consumers, we’re going to get as far out of that connection as possible.

GabeN has this tactic of saying something which sounds like he's being open and amazing but when you dissect it (and look at his previous comments in the light of what actually happened) he's not saying that at all.

An open platform is about as far away from where Steam is now as is possible AND would probably undermine what people expect Steam to be!?

Bandwidth appears to be Valve's currency - it's what their people talk about whatever you're discussing with them. Their ability to review games for inclusion was described as 'bandwidth' - their ability to serve customers is 'bandwidth' - the range of games they have is 'bandwidth' - it's their currency and so you must be careful interpretting what they mean by that term.

The idea that Steam simply becomes an open distribution platform is taking what it is now and trashing it surely? Right now, people see Steam as a filtered/curated platform - Greenlight is designed to be that filter (I say designed in the loosest possible sense) but they clearly could, should and are working 'around' Greenlight too.

The idea Steam is just a 'shop' or a 'middleware platform' is bonkers and makes no sense - so I have genunely no idea what he's trying to suggest - but history suggests it's not what you think it is :)

Interesting, but they still have to come up with (or share with us) the brilliant idea that actually makes it work in practice. And even then, it looks like it could take quite a long time to get there.

I'm going to call Valve's judgement into question again.

And we wonder why people are giving up on Greenlight...why?

Why? Do you think it's a bad game?

I could have sworn I saw that game somewhere else before, but I can't remember where.

Game looks both feature complete and artistically coherent as well as having full gameplay mechanics. So, as long as it's fun to play as well, it's a success. Granted, it's not eye wateringly good, but it actually looks like a proper attempts and successful entry for a "game".

    I've seen worse... ... on Steam. :D

It's an indie game. You can tell it was made by a lone developer (or at most that he contracted other people) because the developer/publisher information list one name. It's his first on Steam. The graphics are mediocre and some of the color choices are horrendous. The HUD sticks out as one of the worst parts of the game. The gameplay looks mediocre at best. Honestly, it looks like it was a port of some guy's mediocre iPhone game.

Somehow, it got on Steam without Greenlight while far, far better games have been rejected and still continue to be rejected even on Greenlight.

I might probably be being a little sore about how Greenlight is treated and thus how games on Greenlight are treated but if they're going to start letting games like that through on a regular basis, why the hell do they even have Greenlight?

It was probably submitted before Greenlight was a thing. The whole reason Greenlight was invented was because the backlog of submitted games was about a year long. They're still working through those.

That's not my point though. They let THAT in while simultaneously rejecting much, much nicer games. Hell, DLC Quest, while short, is nicer and it got rejected after reaching the top 10 in Greenlight, if I recall correctly!

It all sounds largely subjective but in case I'm not the only one that was confused as to how the Greenlight process works, this is an interesting bit of information about it and it's starting to make more sense in my mind.

Valve meets indie devs in a online chat-meeting about improving Steam Greenlight

    Hey guys!

Today Valve organized an online chat where everyone had a chance to ask Valve employees a question about Steam Greenlight or suggest how to improve the process.

Just thought some of you might be interested in the whole "Greenlight-thing" and would like to read a meeting recap, so I posted a transcript from the chat, filtered it a bit and added a brief summary:
    https://crunchingkoalas.com/improving_steam_greenlight_aka_complete_waste_of_t ime/

    May it serve you well.

PS. If you're not interested in details, just start from the summary and then decide if you're ready to read the whole script.

    Cheers,
    Tom
