No idea but I had a Black Pudding Scotch Egg today (from Fenwicks in Newcastle) and it was utterly amazing (and bloody expensive!)
That sounds deluxe. I wants.
There's a stall at my local farmer's market that mostly sells sausages but also does scotch eggs, made with eggs from their farm and meat from their sausages and they're fricken amazing, but also expensive. It's really hard to eat a supermarket scotch egg after having one.
I had to google this and... damn, such a thing exists? I have to try it one day.
Make your own scotch eggs if you have the means to do so. My mum does them every so often and it's not the "supermarket ones are worse" thing that bothers me, they're just vastly superior when still hot.
Fresh out of the fryer (or oven, if you're being healthy.)
I made "scotch pasties" one day. Boiled egg, sausage meat, pastry. Brilliant they were, too.

Thank you RPS, I had no idea such a thing existed! After reading this thread today, I immediately prceeded to make some and these are the result.
Cheers,
Congrats and enjoy your meal.
Let us know how you liked it.
Given that I live in Glasgow, how can I not have eaten a scotch egg pastie? I must track one down as a matter of urgency. There are some wondrous photos to be had in Google image search...
Looks like a contender for the ultimate breakfast pie to me.
Well, I know what I'm making tomorrow.
I take photos of space and talk about it sometimes: http://ofspaceandthings.tumblr.com Also, I am making a game for which there is a development log: http://elegythegame.tumblr.com/
Here are the scotch egg pasties I made:

According to Wikipedia the first printed recipe for scotch eggs suggested serving them hot with gravy. I might just have to try that one day.

Anyone else a fan of taking an initial bite and then squirting some brown sauce into the cavity and shaking the egg about to disperse it?
It's a closely guarded secret that every Scot comes from a scotch egg.
Also, if we are talking about cooking and Scots, I always wanted to try making a haggis samosa. Saw it on TV once and thought it was a genius idea :)
They look... incredibly unappetising. I feel like I'm staring at a rock's uterus.
I'm sure they're delicious though.
