And I've never played AoW, but my understanding is that AoW has more micromanagement, diplomacy, city growth - basically Civ type elements. In HoMM you have set resources and strongholds on the map that can change hands, but you can't just drop a new city down where you like. It's a game of discover and gobble.

I like the game, so far, but the difficulty curve for the Campaigns is really bad. Some areas are tours or cakewalks, others are ridiculously hard, like the Conquest. I stepped down from Normal to Easy and still couldn't beat it after 4-5 tries. Haunted some HOMM fansites and picked up some tips, but haven't found any way to raise up enough troops quickly and survive that area. I don't like cheating, but that's the only way I got through this level -otherwise I would have shelved the game entirely.

It contains only 2 160MB parts (The file is supposed to be 490MB) and cannot be extracted (or is corrupt).
    Any other updated link ?

I'm also interested in getting a hold of this patch pack, if it's still around.

I'd love to get my hands on an updated pack if it still exists.

It does, I looked it up not so long ago. They rebranded it though, and there's a new completely rehashed version on the works.

Very interesting. Heroes 5 is a pretty good game, don't know why it gets such a bad rep. Will definitely check this thing out.

Thanks for the new link pakoito. Quite timely, too, as it just so happens to be Might & Magic weekend over on GamersGate, which now offers the full HMM5 package for about €9.

This is just the AI pack, not the complete content one of the first link, from what I see.

I can confirm that. You can get the content stuff from the original sources here:

but you'll have to put it all together yourself. The content pack was nice, as it saved you the trouble.

Whoa, hey, sorry guys - forgot that I'd updated the pack to the latest fan-patch and everything, but not posted the link here. OP updated, and here's the link again.

Thanks Dominic. How exactly do we use those .001 and .002 pieces?

You should be able to merge them with a tool like HJSplit.

Thanks for posting the link Dominic!

If they're just split parts of the file, you don't need a tool to merge them. Simply open a terminal and type
    copy /b file1+file2+...+filen destination.file
This will concatenate the files into destination.file.

They are probably mergeable with 7zip.

Indeed, those methods should work too. Most archive-programs can probably handle split files.
