the reasons for keeping strict will be so everyone knows what we are doing, as when we spilt up, this got very confused between squads, so what we will be doing is keep mumble chat to leaders of squads and sub-leaders to chat on mumble, and keep every one else to call out important things only such like sunny South east behind clifs. important things only, then we will tie in squad chat with PS2 buit in VOIP, as there is nothing wrong with it once its set up correctly
I'm happy to keep my big yap shut during serious ops. I 'm also very happy to play eye in the..er... cliffs for some observation work like I did last night. The co-ordination our squad had defending the base from Vanu attacking from the west and a TR armoured column from the east was immense, and I like to think my being perched on a cliff face several hundred meters above, feeding enemy movement and attack routes down, had a small part to play in that defence.
be missing the next few night til jan, folks on the home front have a slow internet
What server is this on? Don't worry I don't want to join, just curious.
Why would I be worried if you wanted to join?
We're on miller, may see us every now and again crashing vanu parties.
I just tried to post on this thread and it said it needed to be approved by a mod!

Hey guys, any chance of an invite to the outfit?
PS2 Char = Hoppertronic (NC) on Miller server.
Cheers!
Yeh I really do enjoy sniping, but literally can't see any reason to spend certs on infiltrator..?
Increased hacking speed is almost irrelevant, same for cloaking as its regen rate rather than length and you should be getting hit so suit upgrades make little difference. Also since the starter Rifle is 1-Shot, with a default scope that's effective at both Mid and Long range what is there to actually spend certs on to make the class better?
Cause now i've got my reaver to an okay level (A2A missiles, flares and composite armour) I'm kinda looking for an infantry class to specialise in. I kinda like the Medic's gun but the utility of Engineer is more appealing, can you unlock a gun for the Engineer that's more the Medic's carbine, i.e accurate with little recoil?
edit; yeh that got rambley fast, damn coffee

People seem to love the Warden for the Engineer to fill a "designated marksman" role. Here's a quick rundown of my experience with the different weapons:
With upgrades the default medic assault rifle or the HA LMG are great for the latter, and some of their payable alternatives even more so (Reaper DMR, the Warden etc.) The Medic has great CQC options as well with the GR-22 and the Carnage BR. For proper CQC with the HA you need a different gun like the GD-22 (i think) or the EM1/6 but you'll always be overpowered the bullet hoses the TR and VS have. Still, decent choices. Wafflynumber appears to like the Jackhammer a lot but I haven't used it yet. Shotgun might be an option though.
For Engineers (who can also take the Warden) and LAs I'd suggest either the GD-7F which, with upgraded laser sights and soft point ammo is a BEAST in CQC. Other people swear on the Gauss Compact S because of it's ability to apply an underslung weapon or the ADX-11 which trades ROF for raw damage.
As said, you could also decide on a shotgun which all classes can use. I have no experience with them.
Play Arma2:CO with us. (It isn't nearly as difficult as you might think.)
It's okay to not like things.
Much fun last night - turned Planetside from a game where I regularly got splatted by rocket pods and high explosive tank shells into a game where I still got splatted by rocket pods and high explosive tank shells but that splatting would be followed half a second later by the squad spawning heavies and burster max's on death and rapidly splatting the splattee.
On the engineer choice at slightly longer range I'll add another contender - the Razor-GD23. Certainly won't be anything like as good as the Warden at range but the LA can use it too and personally I find myself at mid range more often with the LA. It's not an uber weapon by any stretch and ordinarily I wouldn't say it's worth the unlock (but triple SC day convinced me). It's slightly (but noticably) easier than the default Merc at range, less recoil, slightly faster bullet velocity and just about as good as the Merc in CQC (which is to say reasonable, but nothing like what folks say about the GD-7F). Basically I find it can make use of a 3.4x scope wheras the Merc was only accurate enough to scope out to 2x.
It was a great night yesterday. Our defensive fights were quite fun and now I want to get anti tank mines myself.
Hear from the spirit-world this mystery:
Creation is summed up, O man, in thee;
Angel and demon, man and beast art thou,
Yea, thou art all thou dost appear to be!
Heh yeh in the defence there was a point where I was was getting 14k xp/hour un-boosted just by dropping ammo at our Burster MAX's feet and casually drinking my tea xD

Cheers, yeh the GD-22 for the HA was the first gun I unlocked purely so I could actually hit anything past 10m and get more that 4 bullets off before dying in CQC with the HA. My problem is I spent the last 10 years almost exclusively playing Natural Selection, a game that has no recoil or bloom. So i'm honed to using fast firing guns with no recoil and little bloom (the LMG, which the Medic gun is very similar too if anyone else had played NS1?) and the pistol with was like a dead accurate rapid fire sniper rifle. So maybe the Warden would be for me but the 1000 certs is a long haul, though if there's a time to do it, it's now with the 2x XP.

Sorry when I say un-boosted I mean just with the 2x xp weekend as I wasn't in the squad with the 2 guys with the squad xp boost most of the night. Though last 2x weekend I managed to get it upto 20k xp/hour in a massive infantry battle over the NC Arsenal (I think its called) on Amerish, was amazing raged on for about 45 minutes before vehicles rolled in and spoiled it, you'd be surprised how much fun this game is when there's only a couple of tanks a side and no air support ruining everyone's day![]()

Freedom Friday was very nice, very effective, very organised fun. We have loads more heads joining on the weekends so we're keeping things quite organised and directed so it doesn't become a mass of frustrating comms and platoon members all over the place. Which is great, I think it's what some envisioned the outfit becoming.
But (yes, there's always a but with me), it's for this purpose that I'll be taking a massive backseat to things on the weekend and hopefully be leading during some weekdays when we have smaller squads with odds massively stacked against us, dicking around, which is what I enjoy most from PS2. Freedom Friday was great, though, for sure, probably the best yet in terms of effectiveness on the field.
