    [RPS] Outfit Decal & PlayerStudio

I have all the high res outfit decals on my computer, ready to submit.

I haven't before, as SOE previously refused to accept outfit decals the normal route. But that seems to have gone, and they're in the depot now.

    So.

    1) I upload it all through my existing (but as yet unused) player studio account and I forward any proceeds to keep the Mumble / website going / use it to send people PayPal cash to buy giraffe camo / send Rizlar a case of beer.

    2) I forward the images to those who have finanical responsibility for Mumble / the website and they do it.

    Any preferences between the two?

    No objection to either

*edit - I should say 'happy with both'

    I vote on (1).

I think 1) is pretty cool. I'd like to spend the last of my SC going to us in some way.

So what happens do you earn a small chunck of the money when the things are bought?

I don't know the exact percentages, but I think it's around 10-20% of the money goes to the creator.

Just a quick note, when it's accepted you'll have to specify which character you want the free version to go to, it doesn't have to be your character. Make sure you give it to someone with the power to change the outfit decal, so those who can't afford to buy it with money can get it with certs. People who want to support the outfit can then buy it with SC if they so choose.

I always thought the player studio was only for USA. So yeah #1 sounds good.

Was going to suggest jazzing it up, then just tweaking it, but actually fuck it, I think it looks great and you should definitely submit it.

Option number 1 sounds grand. We can always use the funds as a meetup kitty. Who knows, if a bazillion people buy one we could rent one of those castles Moxxie keeps finding!

However I'm also cool with 1)

I remembered I've uploaded the decal files to here:
    http://www.rockplanetshotgun.com/organisation/logo/

There's some editing that will need to be done. Details are here:
    https://www.planetside2.com/player-studio/get-started
(Select decals in the drop down)

There are two ways of submitting; either using the old form or the new visualisation software (which I've not played around with yet). All the details are on the Player Studio forum. If you go via the visualisation system you'll need to create an object in there with all the info etc. The old route still exists though, as a separate button on the submit page.

Edit: Nope. PS2 is only taking submissions via the new system.

If you're wanting to go ahead and do it, please feel free to. Otherwise I'll go through the faff of editing the image and setting it up over the weekend.

This bit of the decal guidelines. Lol.

Avoid using current national flags or other imagery that is not consistent with the PlanetSide 2 universe.

Slightly odd. The decal guidelines say 256x256 texture map (and the asset is one texture map), but the studio guidelines for decals say 1024x1024. Wat.

Looking at the requirements, it seems like the 256px with transparent background converted to a tga should be all that's needed. It shouldn't need any editing as it already has a border of more than 5px and a transparent background.

I looked at the example images and one of them is 512x512px and the other one is 1024x1024. Umm...

Yeah, exactly it's a bit odd to say the least. Reckon submit at 1024x1024 for max quality and I'm sure SOE can change it to another size if really needed.

Only other thing that needs adding is the TGA alpha cut out around the decal. Easy enough.

Also need to consider whether to centre the circular bits within the decal area or maximise the size of the logo (with the circular component off-centre). I am leaning towards centring the circle in the middle of the decal area so it aligns better with decal placement on various vehicles. Placement seems more important than size.

    You centred the design, right?
