So there's been some talk about getting a group for sPvP going, but nothing really happened yet. That's a shame, because GW2's PvP has everything you'd ever want from a multiplayer game: teamplay, cooperation, grand team battles, close and personal duels, desperate skirmishes against impossible odds, glorious comebacks from the brink of defeat...
...unless you play on a public server, that is. Then it's mostly zerging.
There's an easy solution for that problem though: do tournaments. Tournaments are amazing for these reasons:
- You can join as a group. Yes, you can actually ensure that you're in the same team!
- They are 5v5 instead of 8v8, so the maps aren't as cramped.
- People actually care about the tactics.
- If you win one or more matches, you get a chest with free stuff. Who doesn't like free stuff?
So the idea of this post, after this gratuitious introduction, was to get people together to do tournaments. If you've got PvP experience, good. If you've got no PvP experience, even better! You'll receive a warm (and bloody, but mostly warm) welcome in the fields of battle.
What can I expect?
You'll die. A lot. You'll curse at mesmers. And thieves. And that sodding trebuchet. But as the old saying goes, PvP is "easy to learn, hard to master". You'll improve. And winning your first tornament match feels glorious.
What will we do? How do we get started?
Just message me either ingame (algolicious.9065), on Steam or in this thread. If you're interested, tell me your account name (the thingy with the 4 numbers at the end) and when you're available. If enough people are interested, we can turn this into a weekly event. Like, one evening of casual PvP funs.
I've never done PvP before! I'm intimidated!
AS YOU SHOULD BE.
On a more serious note, no worries. We are playing for fun. Winning is just an occasional, pleasant side product. No one is going to yell at you for making mistakes.
Hope to see you in the game!
