Starting from this Monday, unauthorized downloading in Japan will be criminal offence, subject to imprisonment below 2 years and fine maximum at JPY 200 million. It seems this regulation will not cover TV broadcasted programmes for the time-being, but those for sales in any format are definitely protected.

Damn. Gintama has just been renewed for its 5th season. That says no one from Japan will share it (new episode will not be for sale for a period, but I guess most will be scared).

I dont have any English source for this news but sure you will easily find this news on web. Japan has gone too far on fighting piracy.
