On the other hand the Sectopod looks like a big and noisy machine but all it takes is one square outside of your view and you can move right past it. There is a lot of corners and angles inside spaceships, this blunder happened to me at least once.

Most of these posts and threads look like spam to me and I report them whenever I spot one. Sometimes it's hard to tell though, because some of these users come across as just clumsy (sometimes it is more obvious though, like posts containing information that is just plain wrong or isn't fitting into an ongoing discussion at all). I also haven't seen any action taken against this behaviour, so I assume it is tolerated.

This game really needs a "show squares that this square can see/be seen by" feature. Setting up a nice defensive position only to randomly lose a soldier because he can mysteriously be shot through a wall is annoying.
I can't imagine playing on ironmode, there are just too many instances where you have no idea what you'll be able to see, who you'll be flanking, and exactly what your area-effect weapon is going to hit.
Still, really like the game. Currently in a mission with only three people left after two muton+beserker squads aggroed at the same time. I think I'd better retreat, since they're all colonels and it would be a bit crap to lose them. Why do I keep getting Support soldiers? I've only had 3 Assaults all game. I have loads of spare cash right now, so I'll just hire a bunch and hope.Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.

It's a good game but balance is too off in my opinion, like majority of strategy games. On classic at least start is too hard and then quickly becomes too easy. It also becomes too easy simply because you start to have the stats to offest the Alein Buffs, meaning that the AI is nae great shakes as it's very easy to outwit when the playing field is level.

Hmmm, definitely seems like the game has bugs when you near the endgame, which is a shame, 'cause early and mid game were perfect for me.
For instance, look at this Ethereal that I was unable to target. I didn't lose anyone in the end, so it could have been worse, but still.
And I took an all-female squad out for an extremely successful Bomb Disposal mission (admittedly, they're piss-easy 'cause they feature Thin Men), and I didn't get my Valkyrie Cheev. I don't really care about cheevs, but I thought it was a good excuse to get some squaddies some experience on what was likely to be an easy outing. Still, annoying that it didn't work.
Also, what's the go with Sectopods? Are they supposed to be able to fire twice in one round AND go on Overwatch? Or do they get bonuses like that when they have Drones beside them? It killed a promising, up-and-coming Support and almost killed my second best Psi with that bullshit.
ISIBAISIA, fucking Sectopods.

- If the sound of Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings" makes you think of Kharak burning instead of the Vietnamese jungle, most of your youth happened during the 90s. -

If you think thats bad how can this guy not see the big berseker right in front and see the other guy behind cover.

How many armor versions are there,i unlocked second one, first one was fiber west or something lol :D

Yeah, often the odds are just as poor a move closer than they were behind cover a move away for some reason. Also flanking is still something of a gamble, difficult to know when someone is actually going to be flanked or not before doing it on occasion. Vertical vision is terrible too, dudes on roofs who just can't see enemies a story below (and not underneath) or vice versa. You can sometimes get round it by throwing grenades or rockets into the general area but it shouldn't be necessary.

The LoS issues you mention can be a real pain, but on the bright side it's nowhere near as bad as the vision roulette of Jagged Alliance 2 (my favourite game ever btw).

1. starter armor
2. carapace armor
3. titan armor
There are specialized armors in those tiers:
1. Skeleton Armor is the grapple hook on carapace
2. Ghost Armor is the cloaking armor built out of Titan Armor (also has grappling hook)
3. Archangel is the flying Titan armor
What you have built, the nano-fiber vest, is not an armor but an item (to replace grenades/medikits/etc) that slightly increases your HP. Chitin Plating would be the second tier to this item.

Right, the Skeleton/Ghost/Archangel are handicapped in Defense so as not to be better than the base armor.
22-10-2012, 03:26 PM #457
Actually, thats not right. They are handicapped in pure HP. as far as I know, either the skeleton or ghost armour actually gives +10 defence. (or both)

Oh I see, thanks for the correction. Basically they are within the tiers as I listed, which is all I meant and should have been clearer.

And I didnt mean to bug you about the list, though. Maybe we could put it down more uptodate?

2. Ghost Armor is the cloaking Titan Armor (+grappling hook; -4 HP; +20 defence)
3. Archangel is the Jetpack Titan armor (-2 HP) (6 Turns of Flight)
4. Psi armor is a Psi enhancing Carapace (+30 Will)
