    Maia

Maia is my side project, turned full time. Heres the pitch:

Inspired heavily by the 70's Sci-fi aesthetic, Maia is a colony management simulator where you must keep your colonists safe, fed and happy. Liberally influenced by nineties god games, the game will have a dark sense of humour and more toys to play with than you can shake a Molyneux at.

    Edit: Old stuff...

The game is still early Alpha, but since I've been working full-time on it things have started to come together. I'm hoping to start releasing game-play trailers at the end of the month, with the possibility of crowd funding soon after!

The game is a long-term project for me and I hope to work on it for an extended amount of time, with regular updates. The short-term plan is to have playable builds out in early January. I have already managed to get a few big name distributors on board with selling it.

    Now funding on Kickstarter!!

Based on that one screenshot alone, I'd chip into a Kickstarter for this. Best of luck with it!

Looks great! But volumetric clouds + realtime lighting on it with several sources isn't that killing the performance!?

Judging by the graphics alone makes me say this game is going to be a sensation. I like the idea of "transforming it from an interesting simulation into a playable sandbox." Hope it will manifest when the whole thing is done. Best of luck to the dev and your team!

Sorry but I couldn't say I'll chip into a Kickstarter for this game, yet. Perhaps I should wait for further updates before I finally decide.

Thanks! Nah, doesn't even effect the frame rate, the key thing is a lot of it is "faked". The lighting is actually very simple. Indeed its not even lighting at all, just tinting the particles based on the distance from the light.

I'm testing on an Nvidia 570, but regularly getting it running on my Nvidia 330M laptop at a decent framerate.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I haven't already started alpha or crowd funding yet. I want to show off the basics of digging and the other gameplay to give people a better idea of how the game plays.

"Quantacat's name is still recognised even if he watches on with detached eyes like Peter Molyneux over a cube in 3D space, staring at it with tears in his eyes, softly whispering... Someday they'll get it."

Reminds me of the lego Rock Raiders game. Always wanted a remake of that.

Totally pledged for this. Love the aesthetics, and the gameplay sounds right up my alley.

Excited to see where it goes and good luck with the funding!

You already know this but I really hope you make it.

Got my fingers crossed. Good luck!
