    Shadowgate

Okay, I remember when I first wanted to talk about a game, I got a rather rough welcome; so hopefully I'm doing this right this time in posting here.

Anyway, I've been following RTS' John Walker's coverage on http://www.zojoi.com/ when they were working on the Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective games here:

    Here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012...s-will-appear/

    and Here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012...ing-detective/

I started following them, and keeping an eye out on their next release: Shadowgate. Then today, this teaser video was released on their main web page and I figured I'd share it here:

I'm pretty excited about this new Shadowgate, but as tempted as I was to share this update on the main discussion page, I figured since this could be considered "pimping" Shadowgate, I figured I'd mention it here to be on the safe side.

Now, I'm quite eager to know what's going to happen on Shadow Friday! Anyone else?

Looks like posting this here was the right place. Destructoid just broke the news that Shadowgate will be launching a KickStarter campaign tomorrow.

Not only that, but Zojoi also released a sample of the new orchestral version of the original soundtrack that was made for the NES port:

This was one of my favorite games! I used to rent it all the time until I finished it.

Haven't played a first-person adventure game yet. Shame on me that I've never heard of this title. I should start keeping track of it and looking forward to trying this classic for the first time. Will it be available on Android or 3DS download?

It will definitely be available on Android, hands down. That's already a platform they confirmed on the KickStarter page.

3DS, on the other hand is one that I've heard a lot of people request in other forums, second only to Linux.

Chances are a 3DS port would have to be a stretch fund goal, and even then, it'd likely be the 2nd platform stretch goal after Linux.

But thinking about the kind of effects that can be pulled off on 3DS... that would be pretty sweet...

    Streeeetch funding!

    GREAT NEWS!

The Shadowgate KickStarter has entered into Stretch-Funding, and is aiming for $140,000 by the end of the campaign at Midnight EST tonight! If they can make it, then they'll be able to make the game even bigger!

I'm really hoping they can do it! I really want to see this game as fleshed out as possible!

How can a remake be made even bigger?

Well it's not just a remake as it is a "re-imagining". It's the same story and plot, but the Castle the game takes place in will be changed around a bit.

For example, there will be MORE rooms added on by the original creators which will include new puzzles. These rooms will also contain items and relics that help flesh out the story of the original game more than was possible back on the black and white Macintosh. In fact, some of the new content will be content that was CUT from the original game because it couldn't fit onto two 3.5" floppy disks. Now that they don't have to worry about that limitation, they can put it back in.

There will also be some changes made to existing rooms as well: such as the EPOR room. The puzzle in this room was that there was a sign that said "EPOR" on the wall and a Rope laying on the ground. By reading the sign twice, the Rope magically stiffens upright and allows you to climb up the hatch in the ceiling. BUT, this puzzle seemed a bit silly to Dave & Karl, so while the room will still be there in the new game, it will now be flooded with water, and require a new solution to solve.

Essentially, they are retooling the game so that you don't have to use as much "Trial and Error" style game play as you would normally find in early adventure games. By making these changes, they hope to make the game bigger and better!

I can't wait to see the changes first hand! :)
