Brink Revisited - 5v5 Teamplay - Friday 24th Of October

Im making the first in a potential series of video-interviews about certain games, this time about Brink.

Ed Stern, one of the writers for Brink, will be interviewed by Master Smith of Castle Shotgun, while watching some lovely footage of you fine chaps playing a session, recorded by the revered jaguarskills.

Of course, for this to work, I need to figure out who would be willing to join our little session, so here is the thread to "sign up" for the game.

It'll go down on Friday, the 24th of October at 21:00 GMT+1 / 8PM GMT.
It'll go for a couple of hours, just to make sure everyone gets to play the campaign twice (from opposing sides, that is), then the best bits get edited together to produce about an hour of footage. Ed and Adam will then comment on it and chat a week or two later.

Required: Brink, mumble (even if only for listening), no experience.

note: if more than 10 people sign up, we can just either have "reserve" players, or make the server larger, PingPerfect has been kind enough to provide it to us, for that day.

note2: I will try and get the server up for a day before so people can jump in and get a feel for the game again, if they so wish.

    Signups so far:
    QuantaCat
    jaguarskillz
    RebelBlob
    ?Skiant
    ?Skhalt
    ?Vandelay
    ?apricotsoup

Neat idea, I would join you if I wasn't busy travelling. Brink was a fun (if flawed) game, would love to see an improved sequel.

Would there be space for someone who's never played it before?

I love Brink and I'd love to help but it's the release day of the new Civ-in-space so my motivation to play something else is a huge question mark. Put me up as "maybe" and I'll help if you can't reach 10 people.

I need an excuse to play this again. I will try to make it, but it might be tight.

Sounds like a fun idea. Might be able to drop by for this.

Brink was a game that had some great ideas. A real pity that it also had a few big missteps in some fairly fundamental areas (level design and the unlock system being the big ones for me.) Still a shame it was such a failure.

You can add me with a question mark, for pretty much the same reason as Skiant.

    Yeah, I agree.
I think that's the only reason I have never gotten it.

I may have time, not sure yet.

I did quite like brink though, most people managed to overlook the good parts of the game for various reasons.

I will volunteer if you're desperate, but I don't think new players are going to have a great time getting wrecked by vets who know the maps and have maxed out characters with all the toys. That said, I haven't played it in a couple years and have surely forgotten many of the mechanical details.

It's a shame they never removed the anti-competitive grind-to-unlock stuff to improve accessibility and long term play. There are still active WolfET and ETQW servers, but good luck finding a decent match of Brink. I do hope SD revisits it someday, and I'm looking forward to Dirty Bomb of course.

Im not desperate, but I want to have a good game. I doubt one veteran player is going to ruin the match for all.
