@ doctor_roxo: There's a way to play around with a lot of values, including durability, handling and such, allowing what you describe. It's easy as hell, but I can't remember the name of the program I used for it. Google it and it shouldn't be too hard. It's a nice way to just play with the city. It's quite fun to turn a small vehicle into a tank and just go on a rampage.

Dark Souls and Metal Gear Solid 4.
I was tempted to say either Skyrim or GTA for the sand box, but Dark Souls ranged fighting is pretty bad and stealth is non-existent, so I went with one which I remember to have some good FPS and stealth segments.

That's a good one. Let's hope this is what the upcoming Frostbite-engined ME game is (yeah right, we all know it'll be a shooter with a heavy MP-focus because the big publishers have zero originality).

A turn-based Mass Effect would be interesting (ala Final Fantasy: Tactics, etc.).

I'd like to see a game combine the open-world massive combat / territory control elements of Planetside 2 and the RTS functions of Homeworld.

I actually think EVE is attempting to do this with Dust 514. So, we'll see.

World In Conflict x Command And Conquer

Just picture it. All the deformable terrain and destruction that the WiC engine provides crossed with everything awesome from the original C&C game. Resource collection with terrain that matters. Orcas that behave like aircraft. Ion Cannon and Nuke strikes on a scale you've never seen before. Massive Tiberium fields and changeable weather.

In fact any RTS plus the WiC engine would be amazing.

Starcraft x Company of Heroes / World In Conflict.

Leave that 2D playing field in the past please Blizzard. Please. Give us the game we deserve. Stop chasing the E-sport crowd.

    Crackdown X Deus Ex.

Cyborg with actual cyborg powers instead of the inability to shoot.

    GTA x The Matrix.

Im sure someone will tell me this exists as a mod but it seems like the perfect engine for it.

    Anno 2070 x Bioshock.

    I could keep going on....

So many great game engines used just for specific games. I reckon 75% of games would be better if they just used established engines.

Also, Mass Effect 1 x Mass Effect 3.

75% of the design and gameplay then all of the graphical fidelity transported back to reboot the original game with its infinitely superior rpg systems and writing, then a rewrite of ME2 & ME3 that included the Mako and the unknowable horror of the Reapers and the Dark Matter problem.

But then an unhappy ending where the Reapers are undefeatable NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO and Kaidan doesnt magically turn gay that leaves the internet sweetly raging and unable to comprehend that no matter their decisions NONE OF IT FUCKING MATTERED.

It's not very imaginative but Max Payne 3 with GTA. The great shooting and slomo from MP3, combined with the open world of GTA.

    - If the sound of Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings" makes you think of Kharak burning instead of the Vietnamese jungle, most of your youth happened during the 90s. -

SWTOR Imperial Agent storyline x updatedSilent Storm engine (prettier, and maybe let you zoom in much more)

Really... any great RPG storyline + Silent Storm TBS engine = automatic win. I would kill for a game like that. The Achilles heel of far too many RPGs is their combat.
