So, that new office DICE was "opening" in LA to work on Star Wars games? Yeah, that's just Danger Close renamed to DICE LA, they of MoH: Warfighter fame. And instead of Star Wars, they're "100% focused on Battlefield 4" so that's not very good, is it? But seriously, why does EA keep doing this studio renaming scam? Renaming a bad studio to something associated with quality doesn't mean that studio will magically start shitting gold

As far as I'm aware, while there are developers moving over from Danger Close, it's by and large not the same team - at least so far as most developers left Danger Close, so they started rehiring, and just kept the same senior staff.

I find it fascinating that EA believe that a decent number people buy games on the strength of 'DICE', rather than 'MoH' or 'CoD'.
(I'm not saying they're necessarily wrong but it's not what I would have assumed.)

I'd say that this has a greater chance of diluting the Dice brand than salvaging Danger Close. That's the flipside of brand extension: spill-over effects. It all depends on the quality of what they deliver, of course.
