Dropbox & The New World - A Civilization 4: Colonisation game
Join me to settle a world filled with tasty tasty treasure, concerned/content/killed natives and real opponents trying to tear themselves from the umbilical of the motherland, support each other or go for the throat when their defences are strained by their abandoned regents?
We are talking drop box long play and fierce expansionism.

I'll look up on how that works exactly, but I am up for a game.

Is this similar enough to civ 4 that I can work it out as I play?

Civilization 4 allows tech a great deal of influence unless you violently lower the slider. Civ 4 col barely has any tech advances. It's all about people, troops and towns.

not really, look up some of the info and you will see the differences *sorry, on my phone now so I can't type more specific information*

But will I lose horribly if I try and learn as I go? I don't really want to play single player.
Edit: Also is it DRM free like the latest patch of Civ 4 was? My version came from D2D which means I can't actually use it anymore.

I'm dreadful at it, because I cant care about playing VS ai because AI are cheating magic brains who have dishonest diplomacy on easier difficulty and harder difficulty just insane in different ways.

With 4 people it looks like we can have a game? I was wondering will we be playing with or without any mods?

Gamefly's interface is awful. I had to change the display to a list from a bookshelf thing (the default), to find the download buttons. Also only 5 games show up in "All games", while the rest of them are under other categories. At least I discovered they do actually have my D2D purchases, even if they tried very hard to hide them.

Without any mods to start with, just to optimise compatability.
PM me your email addresses and I'll get this party started.

Had a poke around with sp, natives never mind the first town no matter how much you invade their personal space, after that drawing some distance can avoid annoying them. Annoyed natives WILL burn down your towns. The importance of immigrant specialists cannot be overstated. An expert fisherman and an expert lumberjack can turn a stagnating town into a small vibrant hub of commerce.
I have concerns about using drop box as it will be slower than real time as simultaneous turns are not possible. I will enquire into using pitboss which acts as a dedicated server.
Maybe we should start on a small carribbean map. I hesitate to alter game speed.

Out of pure bloody mindedness of I'm trying dropbox, it's just the backups etc that make it tempting. But if it anything less than runs smoothly I'll start a pitboss game.
The struggle of ascension between Dominicus and his WIC traders, Odin and his Viking raiders and Zombie George Washington and his undead horde has begun.

Apparently I'm not playing? As hurt as I am to be left out, after poking around in single player its probably for the best. It seems even slower to get started than Civ, even without having to wait for turns.

Try to get some practise, but when your ready just ask around. I wouldn't mind joining a second game. Turns are really relaxed and not really that time consuming.

I completely mixed you Dominicus up.. If you fancy it ill start a new game. Make it a Caribbean to keep it differentiated.
