    [AAR] I44 24/11/12 - Terrible Temp Week Part II

    We played these missions:
    Road Clearance - Amazing hedges of death.
    The Escape - The rescue was... Well deathly.
    Patrol - Oh snow!
    Road Escort V4 - We can not allow that abomination to live.
    Jedburgh Ambush
    - Was the castle of death.

    Yup if you hadn't guessed... We died A LOT.

    Any and all AAR's, comments, suggestions welcome.

    Road Clearance - Jumped, parachuted, everyone landed except for me parachute, got bugged, it stopped. Regrouped, followed the plan, joined up with rifle squad as medic, guns got hit with the commander, ran to the commander, couldn't revive for some reason, ran back to the rifles, getting hit 3 times, recovered, ran to rifles, most of them were dead, mission end.

    The Escape - Pow Number 2. My comrade, Pow Number 1 IceRaiser got killed by a closing door. Minutes later, rescuers have come to rescue, but I got wounded by a german, was bleeding out, see the rescuers... and I died just before the exit gate opened.

    Patrol - I can't even remember what happened in this mission. Sorry about that.

    Road Escort V4 - I was the designated driver of the abomination. Shot the AI telling me to get out the truck, turns out Hawk_Silk exited it, my bad! The plan was simple, drive the abomination from point A to point B. However... there was a hiccup. Germans were on the road, one of them fired a rocket. The abomination flew 400 feet into the air and landed with the front truck exploded. The second truck did not respond and thus failed.

    Jedburgh Ambush - This time without the snow! And caches! We jumped from plane, landed, misfired by accident, proceeded to the first cache, fired our guns, germans down, went into the cave-in cache, germans other side, daf and wolfen got killed, one of the groups flanked the germans, regrouped, got new weapons and ammo, walked along the forest edge, found opel truck, took over truck, someone said "fuck the truck", drove off, commander said return, I return, people get on truck, carried on at 40 km/h (faster than running), parked truck, attacked guard house, threw satchel, satchel blew, more germans died, took over guard house, motorbike with gun fired back, dropped smoke, got killed. Died.

    We also played one before hand that I do not recall the name of, it was another British paradrop mission.

    THAT ONE MISSION:
    CO right off the bat, fun times. Things were actually going swimmingly until I accidentally discharged a round. I learned if you do that, you're going to have a bad time. Basically Alpha Rifles and Alpha Gun gathered after landing and moved out We crept past a few German patrols dicking around in some ruins, skirted around a small villa, and then split up to attack the first German strongpoint guarding the road we were to secure. Unfortunately, about 200m out, I dropped my mouse, caught it, and clicked the M1 button enough times to bring all the Germans in the surrounding 800m on top of our very open staging points for the first assault. Alpha Guns and I ran smack into an MG42 after I said "fuck it, just start the assault!" We were promptly turned into swiss cheese and the first mission was a resounding, glorious failure.

    THE ESCAPE:
    I was just a grunt with a silenced carbine for this one. Yet again we were great in the assembly and stealth phase, darting through the country side after a snow-blind paradrop, slipping patrols like true men. We even did pretty good clearing out the compound where our POWs were being held. After that I don't even know what the fuck happened but it definitely involved a lot of Germans and me being too close to a friendly satchel.

    PATROL:
    I led this one too! A small American element was tasked with a combat patrol in the woods directly North of Bastogne. Turns out those woods were filled with murderous Germans dug into a trench line. Some very solid flanking maneuvers from Alpha, a strong base of fire from Bravo, and excellent handling of weapons detachments allowed us to keep pressure on the Germans. We quickly cleared the trenchline, finished our recon, and since we left some dudes back at Bastogne we won in the middle of combat. Lucky! We were on fucking point on this one. Also, perhaps there should be some script to check for a majority of American forces to arrive back at Bastogne before the mission completes?

    ROAD ESCORT:
    I don't want to talk about it.

    JEDBURGH AMBUSH:
    I'm sensing a pattern. I was Alpha Gun lead for this one. Stealth bastardry resulted in us securing a truck and making it all the way to the castle (clearing out several patrols on the way) where we were to stage our ambush on a passing German SS officer. Unfortunately one bad motherfucker on the stairway killed everyone. Fuck that guy.

    I had a blast. I will definitely be on for the following sessions. The last mission felt particularly stupid, with everyone yelling on the ground, waiting for the respawn. Good times!

    Yep I'm pleased that you new guys seemed to have a good time and look forward to to maybe dying with you again next week.
    But that is the name of the game "Glory to the first man to die!" afterall.

    Most of ARPS also takes part in FOLK this evening and has Tactical Tuesdays aswell if you felt like joining those, while I44 is more laid back than the others they are just as good to take part in. I would recommend giving them a go if you haven't already.

    First time playing I44, really enjoyed it. One problem I did keep having is my push to talk keybind for mumble (right ctrl and right shift) kept bringing up an in-game menu but only about half the time. Has never happened playing on tac tuesday or folk, and idiot that I am I didn't think to take a screenshot. If it happens again next time I'll get a pic.

    oo, the patrolling bastogne one was a good one. Sucked having to fumblewith that goddamn mg tripod though. What are FOLK sessions? I'd love to give those a whirl. I'll check the forums.
