Hey bonuswavepilot & SirDavies, can you please start our matches to make sure we get a chance to play through them?
    Cheers!

I'll start uploading videos to the usual place this evening - I suspect I'm the only one still watching them, but I'd feel like I was letting the side down if I stopped now!

    635200: rodeoclown 4:1 ColOfNature
635197: rodeoclown 3:2 ColOfNature (rodeoclown wins by capturing zone)

So in game 635197 rodeoclown beat me by capturing the red zone in my starting corner - he was ahead on kills at the time, but if he hadn't been it could have led to an unusual situation. The game scores this type of win as if the capturing player had won by wiping out his opponent without losing any units himself, but I propose to score the match as if the winner had killed all his opponents units, but to allow the loser to have his kills as well. Therefor, for the time being rodeoclown's kill ratio in this game will be 4:2.

The other options are either to use the actual kills (3:2 in this case, but theoretically you could win but have a kill ratio <1, which doesn't seem right), or to follow the game (so in this case rodeoclown would win 4:0). I think my method strikes a reasonable balance, but as ever I'm willing to be persuaded to change my position.

    I didn't realise that's how it scored.
I was actually hoping for a kill AND cap, but that didn't quite work out :D

I'm not too fussed how we work out the scoring, your method sounds fair enough (you should get points for doing the hard work of killing off two guys).

On reflection: what happens if the winner hasn't killed any of his opponents' units but reaches the endzone? The kill ratio by my method would be 4:4, which wouldn't work either. No, I think the develpers were onto womething. Reaching the capture point probably has to be scored as a 4:0 victory. Which means I have to knock two points off my kill-difference :'(

But yeah, good game. I don't think I could have salvaged it, and I was so busy watching your grenade I forgot your shotty could make a dash for it.

At least it's not a complete waste of time then! BTW, did you have any more thoughts about your How-To-Not-Be-A-Noob Guide that you mentioned? I'd still be interested in reading that.

635648: Hammers 2:0 Lazer (Hammers wins by capturing zone)

My other game with Lazer would be over by now too if I hadn't been so cocky and assumed my victory...

Also could Scozzers and SergBeaver set up our matches as I'd rather they weren't left too late.

Oh, I DO watch them! Thanks for posting them.

I also started writng a bit of a preview for this season. I wrote it in Microsoft Word , tried to paste it but it had to be approved by the moderators. It's been a week now and still I don't see my post here. Too lazy to type it all over again without pasting so it doesn't have to be approved by moderators.

Well, I see that Serg took a turn anyway. Do I continue or does it need to be 4v4?

Mr Beaver has apparently registered a forum account but has yet to say anything so I have no idea if he'll read this but if you're happy then go ahead and play them as they are.

CMaster commented on a bunch of the games a few seasons ago in the short-lived Rock Paper Synapse Show. It was a lot of work by all accounts, but it was fun while it lasted.

It would be nice if Google added late-binding audio to Youtube at some point, that way you could record a commentary track separately and attach it to the video rather than replacing the original audio, as Youtube does currently, or having to mux the existing audio with a recording.

Um, "I'm right on top of that Rose."

It was more of an audio commentary, and I'll start it one of these days. Really.

I particularly liked that bit where you synced up your rocket/shotgun breach.

EDIT: Also Velijah, I don't know if you tried to send it or not but I never got an invitation to play a game with you!
