Hexagonest - 64.10. It's only taken about 6.5 hours...[Serious spoiler]And you can't beat that as you get the game credits. Obviously it's a faux ending as the real one is when you beat Hyper Hexagonest.[/spoiler]
Hyper Hexagon - 25.52. This is actually really hard to do after spending so long on Hexagonest. You move far slower and as a result, you need to really read into and anticipate movement. If you don't move in time, you just see yourself slowly moving into a wall and there's nothing you can do. At least in Hexagonest the pain comes quickly.
Also, how are you guys playing this? Are you trying to go as far as you can on one level before progressing, or simply trying to get the Hyper levels unlocked? I've spent at most minutes on trying to see how far I can get in the initial three levels, focusing more for progression.
I've been playing with the intention of completing a level then going to the next one. I'll go into hyper mode for a while because I actually find going to hyper mode then going back to a slower level helps a lot.
Hexagon - 64:34
Hexagoner - 61:04
Hexagonest - 26:33
Hyper Hexagon - 34:59
Hyper Hexagoner - 17:53
I usually switch between the three levels which I haven't completed when I get tired of the OST or just die a lot. I also like playing with mouse (left click = left, right click = right, both clicks = restart) more than with the keyboard.
Hyper Hexagon - 65.18
Hyper Hexagoner - 56.52 (I got distracted at the end, annoyingly.)
Hyper Hexagonest - 14.48.
Holy fuck this is not the game to impulse buy after a few beers...
That said. I just managed 30 seconds on the first mode. (A total fluke) It was like I could see the matrix.
OK, Hexagonest is pissing me off. Fake difficulty is induced by the stage rotating clockwise and then switching to anti-clockwise after about 10-12 seconds while you're trying to move the triangle.
I've had a lot of imaginary conversations with Terry Cavanagh in my head when the stage switches rotations, none of which is pleasant and all of which features the words 'sadistic', 'monster' and 'bastard'.
The game's switching directions all the friggin' time but you're probably referring to that extremely fast 180° switch? Yeah, that's a dick move. But most patterns give you enough room to move after the switch, I think.
I've noticed that after you get past a switch, you can run yourself through the side of the wall? Has anyone else noticed this?
I've been using my 360 pad to play this with the shoulder buttons. Much better than the keyboard, you've a lot more control and you're less likely to overshoot into the "bad touch" zones as I call them.
One thing I'm slightly let down by is that you can't use your own music. I was expecting this game to be like Audiosurf, where I could play my music library. Maybe in the future.
I...somewhat disagree. To one extent, you're right, but on the other it's a natural difficulty progression combined with a brutally hard level. Hexagonest is a definite step-up, far more from Hexagon > er.
The hit-box is the centreish of the triangle, so you can side up or slip through some of them.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this then.
Anyhow:
Hyper Hexagoner - 71.40. (Simply completing the level makes me part of the 2.2% who own the game on Steam and have completed it!)
Hyper Hexagonest - 18.08. This is where the fun really begins!
Hexagon - 54.05. Oh so damn close! Was about to quit then had too runs in a row of getting to pentagon of which the second was best. Usually lose on triangle or square.
Hexagonest is for crazy people. Hexagoner annoys me as I can do most of the patterns in the early stages apart from the one 5 seconds into this video where I always die as I just can't get the required key presses:

I need to luck out and not get it, but it always irritates me as the Hexagoner tune is my favourite!
