So here's the thing, a lot of the patterns actually require the same movement and it's a case of knowing when to apply your knowledge move-set to that particular pattern. There's a few with the left-right-left (or vice-versa) movement. That said, Hyper Hexagonest does have a new pattern that rarely shows up in the other Hypers, that requires you to, I think, go one direction twice, then the other way once. I can't do it yet, it's super quick and super hard.

And Hexagonest's tune is clearly the best!

Just finished the Hexagoner level after two failures in the last 5 seconds. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but this game reminds me of beating a raid boss in WoW after wiping on him for weeks. Dying in Super Hexagon in the last 5 seconds is comparable to the feeling of a 1% wipe.

It's amazing. I never thought I'd get that feeling again after giving up WoW raiding.

This is a game that will actually lead to me vocally stating my pleasure at finally completing a certain bit of it, something I think that has only happened with Terry's other recent effort (good old Doing Things the Hard Way and Edge Games), Spelunky and Binding of Isaac.

Don't know what it is with these games that hooks me, I detested Dark Souls, ran out of patience with Super Meat Boy and so on; not sure why certain "hard" games inspire me to try and complete them to the best of my abilities and others just frustrate and bore me.

Hexagonest is for crazy people. Hexagoner annoys me as I can do most of the patterns in the early stages apart from the one 5 seconds into this video where I always die as I just can't get the required key presses:

Same here. I actually did manage to get past it once, followed by a high squeek of joy and imminent death.

Hyper Hexagonest - 25.08. Annoyed because I crashed into a sequence I knew. Up to this point, I've worked out how to complete every sequence, apart from one (it's the one after the load-up, where you have two paths connected by a 'ring'). I think it's one direction, opposite, repeat, but I've never passed it without pressing some buttons and hoping for the best. I'm finding myself more and more hitting into sequences that are 'easy' now and it's because the control doesn't feel like it's going at the speed I think it should be, or crashes into walls just over the edge, as already mentioned.

I'm not exactly complaining. This is the hardest level in the game and it shows. My time, at writing, is 375th on the leaderboard. This is bearing in mind only 0.7% of the people who own the game have completed this level.

The sequence that's getting both Cooper and Lambchops and fanbouy was getting me for ages too, just couldn't get my head around it, I think it was because I was looking two moves forward but forgetting about the move inbetween. I eventually figured it out.

That's the nice thing about this game, as you figure things out and complete sequences you get a real sense of achievement about it.

I find myself wondering if the controls are as good as I thought they were. I can't tell if it's a lack of concentration or if I just keep hitting into things because the controls aren't quite as tight. This isn't so much of a problem in the earlier levels where everything is slower, but I'm hitting a lot of easy sequence walls in Hyper Hexagonest in a way that makes me feel like I'm fighting the sequences and the controls. I actually remarked along a similar problem with VVVVVV, that the controls were a bit loose. Again, could just be my concentration, but I'd be interested to see what other people say. The amount of times though in this level where I just over/under-shoot is beginning to err along frustration.

What are you using to play? I found using my keyboard the controller where very loose, but using the shoulder buttons on an xbox controller was a lot better.

A and D on my keyboard. I can give the shoulder buttons a go. That said, I'd find it weird if I got this far using the same method and suddenly find it working better with a different method. I'll give it a go next time I play.

I tried them and the triggers. No noticeable difference and when I was using them, I kept wanting to hit A and D. I think the problem is is that a single tap doesn't quite move one section across (when the centre is a hexagon) but obviously moving in one long movement puts you at a different place within that section. When you're operating at the higher speeds, it becomes harder to correct yourself as you don't have the time. It's not impossible to work-around, but it does feel a little 'off'.

What I do know is that I will, eventually, wear my badge of pride when I beat this game. When.

Tried it, didn't get them. I just went through it again and got to about where I was, all levels unlocked bar the last one.

Well some good news from me then. After 2 days with 28 seconds on Hexagonest I managed 2 seconds more just now! So there is still some progress possible! Need to play some more!

Yeah, after struggling with hexagonest for a few hours with minimal visible progress I switched to hyper hexagoner (5) which I found easier... and I kept getting better and managed to beat it. Then I came back to hexagonest -- and although there wasn't some miracle and it still took some time, it wasn't such a nightmare.

Also straight after in a zen like mood I upped my hexagonest time to 11.11 and hexagoner to 41.43. My hyper time is 10.03 and presumably unlikely to get much better!
