Sorry squiz - its because I don't tell you key bits of information which was to use a pile of bloodstone dust not fractal (relics?) stuff.
Unfortunate cross over with the prefix of blood for powerful and stone...
Slot type wise its power or precision v vitality or toughness if I was ever to get to the point of dual stat infusions - now that is likely outside of the this decade...
Interesting - I may well take that into account to dodge some of the more evil fractal traits above level 30...

    That make more sense?

No, calm your beating heart. Only warrior and maybe eventually guardian but its likely I will specialise with the norn only.

From a pure effectiveness standpoint, when does it stop making sense to bring a ranger into fractals (please don't say always), seeing how rangers are not very well liked in every dungeon ever?

Rangers are not unwelcome, but you only need one in a party for Spotter and Frost Spirit, and many players don't know how to use sword/warhorn.

and don't use power shot ever please, it ruins so many wells or static damage skills/utilities. winner of the most infuriating skill 2013 and already nominated for 2014.

Yeah true and also a fan of GS 5. So i'll amend its fine for me to do but not rangers when I'm not expecting it (which means always btw).

I'm sorry Malawi, I'll stick to staff with the guardian for group events then and give you all healing hugs.

If offensive/defensive slot is an issue, quiver if a thousand arrows is the offensive version of yakkington. Only difference is using philosophers stones rather than crystals in recipe (same sp cost).
Skipping instabilities is not only possible, it's also likely unless you always partner with a group of identical levels (eg I've never run L31 but have done all 32-36, some of them twice. It's desirable to run something less nasty like L37 rather than outflanked or stormy weather that were nasty, although you miss out on the "do you remember when we kept wiping in cliffside" stories...
if you plan on running a lot of fracs, 1850 relics for a back piece is much cheaper than the 200g plus options, particularly if unlike me you don't squander them on AR, rings and bags for your alts.
(Edit, ignore that. You'd need to do 27 L26-30 runs to get one, which may take a few days...)

one of the reasons I am keen to run fractals at the moment is the need for those 1850 relics, want to get an ascended back piece for my guardian so she can start running levels above 30.
She'll be particularly useful at level 44 (since my Ranger crits almost every time).

I still like fractals because it's the only challenging content we have and the instabilities and random nature of the draw keeps it reasonably fresh.

That said, most people are lagging behind in levels so I think we're a ways away from running level 40 (heck I don't have the AR for it yet). We might do level 39 (or whichever 3x is the least crappy) for a while till we get people closer to us / geared up.

37, by all accounts, is the one to go for

As long as people have the AR, I don't see why we shouldn't run the highest level possible. In fact, I am all for unlocking another tier, because it would open the possibility for multiple chest runs during the weekend.

Squirrel, I'm unlikely to be able to do more than 1 run a day at weekend until my kids turn into obnoxious teenagers who shun their parents. If I wanted to L20s and L30s would allow 2 chests (have got at least 1 of my ascended weapons chests from 20s), but I'll run whatever the majority want.
Monkey - as long as folk need levelling up we ought to do so as often as we can,
I think you are one of the few lower personal frac level guild members who is vocal in the forum, so perhaps /g is a better place to publicise this
30AR will take you to L29 so so you have loads to go, but I appreciate there is a gulf between that and the high 30s we are now running to progress. SHout in chat next time i'm on before 9pm and we can get a 13-20 run going

of people who don't post on here. I know Malaphar runs fractals and is currently low 10s. and Arold also does and I think is in the 30s lvl wise.

I've taken a look at the 40+ Mistlock instabilities and I have to say they do sound (like a big kittening ball-ache) fun! I like them more than the 30-39 ones.

Only sad part about this is that I'm going to have to look into crafting a couple ascended armor pieces to keep up with the AR requirements.

Monkey, with your AR you should be doing level 21 until you get to 21 (so that people running with you get the tier 2 reward chest) and then progress up the twenties. Of course, with 30 AR you can participate in 30+ fractals as well, but some encounters will be brutal.

Happy to run some fractals with you btw - and if you want to do two levelups in one day I think we could run a level 1x and a level 21 reasonably quickly (with an experienced group) and get two daily chests.

To put things into perspective, I participated in the above mentioned level 36 run with AR 30 and did fine (on my Zerker warrior).

Level 20 is still Tier 1 (levels 11-20) so be careful as you won't get another chest. That's why I said 21.

Checked another thing... so it might be better to do a 16 and a 26 to get more relics.

    11-15 7 relics per chest
    16-20 8 relics per chest
    21-25 9 relics per chest
    26-30 10 relics per chest
