Odin's Longboatsmen (Norse, sketchseven) vs Sinister Sixteen (Chaos, me)

This was a fun, violent match, yet somehow we both escaped without too much injury.

The norse were first to receive, but the chaos were almost able to stall them out until the end of the half. Helped in no uncertain terms by injuring a werewolf (-1 MA rerolled to dead, thanks apothecary!) and KOing 5 other norsemen (including both of sketch's most scary ones, the PO/MB berserker and the Claw/MB snow troll) with some good hits and pretty gratuitous gang-fouling. Sketch did get his own back, KOing one of my Guard warriors (which turned out to be the end of the match for him).

It was Turn 6 when, just as I'd wrested the ball away from him in my own half, a fumbled pickup and a bad bounce placed it perfectly for sketch's runner to grab it and cross the line. At least sketch was down to 6 men now, unless he could rouse his KO'd players. Lucky for him, the solitary Babe he hired before the match really pulled through and brought back 4 of the 5, undoing all my good work :(

The following drive was cut short by the half-time whistle, but not before sketch fouled one of my better beastmen. No damage, but this was now the fifth foul in the match and no one had been sent off yet!

Half-Time Score: 1 - 0 to the Longboatsmen

After the break, my team were ready to receive again and we caged up and pushed hard. I managed to knock the troll over again and went for another foul - the ref finally caught this one and sent my beastman off, but it was worth it - the troll was Badly Hurt and my drive became a lot easier. My warrior comfortably crossed the line on turn 16 with no norseman near him.

As we set up for the final turn, the score was already decided. But sketch still used the opportunity to gang foul one of my best beastmen.

This was especially cheeky since I could have easily fouled the hell out of his prize berserker on the previous drive but chose not to was I was comfortably going to score at the time. I will remember that for next season!

Ah, Corkir. Looking forward to seeing if I can put an end to your non-loss record in the div. Too bad I'm missing one of my elf-bashing blitzer specialists but I'll have to make do without. I'd prefer playing in the weekend, say early on Saturday, but could do any evening as well if that works better for you.

As for a deadline, I'll put it at next Saturday since I prefer to allow for days in two separate weekends. But if you can manage by this weekend, it would help us build up some momentum again.

(Also, Cyanide fixed my log-in woes with a new patch.)

Every time I see this I get a bit more annoyed at Cyanide. My first game against Corkir in the Open and I had her on the ropes early on (all her positional players injured or otherwise out the game, serious team advantage in terms of numbers, all that jazz). But Cyanide. My one chance for glory stolen by a disconnect error.

Second attempt at that game and things went much more Cork's way. Couldn't injure the elves for love nor money and got run over.

We've all that this kind of shit happen, alas. I was looking like I might actually win a goblin game (against LowKey, I think... don't quote me on that though). Cyanide, then an admin randomly gave me a 2-0 loss. I know it's not Corkir though. Defeating her would have made you legendary in Blood Bowl circles for life.

I do think I'll keep saving up and try and train up a minotaur in the Challenge League during the season break, if there is one and my team still gets in under the bar.

Anyway my next game is against Jiiiim's uber-TV Maths Squad, so I have 7-800k inducements to enjoy there without a minotaur. That should be a fun match, and I already have a good idea what I want to hire for the game - it rhymes with WINotaur! No not really, I'm not hiring that. Or am I? (WINotaur!)

Jol our African net connection is out of action so Corkir won’t be able to play you this week. I’ve been instructed to suggest 12:30 GMT on Saturday but personally I think that may be a bit optimistic with regards to potential flight issues in the morning. She is coming back via Zurich and the last I heard they were expecting snow this weekend.

Other options are Sunday from 14:00 onwards or any evening next week starting 16:00-20:00.
