What genres are under-represented on the PC? What PC games are in those genres?

So I was thinking about the what console games are PC gamers missing thread, and I wanted to take it a step further. What genres are we missing, are there any console games you would like to see replicated on PC? I'd like to get a list up and running. Emulation exists, but arguing whether it's legal or moral is probably something for another day. I also won't list the huge amount of legal genesis games that sega plopped on steam.

3rd Person Beat em Ups (God of War):

    Arkham Asylum / City
    Bloodrayne Series
    Darksiders
    Darksouls?
    Devil May Cry 3 & 4
    Garhasp
    King's Field
    Lugaru (and upcoming Overgrowth)
    Onimusha 3
    Prince of Persia?
    Soul Reaver Series
    Viking Battle for Asgard
    X-blades

    Prototype & 2 (sandbox)
    Spiderman Games? (sandbox)

    Kart Racers:

    Minimotors
    Post Apocalyptic Mayhem
    Sonic All-Stars Racing
    Zero Gear

    Megamanlikes:

    Ares
Megaman X series (most of them had a pc release, good luck finding a legal copy now though)

    Metroidvania:

    Aquaria
    A Valley Without Wind?
    Black Sun
    Cave Story
    Fortune Summoners
    Iji
Knitt (free and good, but does not have combat)
    La Mulana
    Unepic
    Waking Mars?

    JRPG style games:

    Amaranth's games (like Aveyond)
Breath of Death and Cthulu Saves the World
Exit Fate and Last Scenario (free and quite good)
Final Fantasy 7 (plus a few more ports)
    Iffermoon (free)
    Last Remnant?
    Septerra Core
The Spirit Engine (free and not an RPGmaker game)

    Realistic Racing Games (Gran Turismo):

    Dirt / Grid
    GT Legends
    GTR FIA Racing
    iRacing
    Live for Speed
    MX Simulator (Dirt Bike)
    netKar Pro
    Off Road Drive
Outrun 2006 (looks like a 6 year old game)
    Project Cars
    Richard Burns Rally

    Smash Bros:

    Super Megabyte Punch
    Super Smash Land

    Shootem Ups:

    Ether Vapor Remaster
    eXceed - Gun Bullet Children & 2, 3
    Gundeadligne
    GunDemonium Recollection
    Hitogata Happa

    Jamestown
    Razor 2: Hidden Skies
    Satazius
    Sine Mora

    Sports Games:

    Football Manager?
    Fifa
    MLB 2k
    NBA 2k
    EA NHL 09
    PES

    SRPG:

    Battlemoon Wars (English fan translation)
    Conquest of Elysium?
    Cryptic Comet's Games?

    War of the Human Tanks?
    Wesnoth (free)
    X-com (the new one)

    Tournament Fighters:

    Blaz Blue Calamity Trigger
Dead or Alive Online (On a private server, so dubious legality)
    Guilty Gear

    Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection
    Street Fighter 4, x Tekken

    Zeldalikes:

Dink Smallwood (free and decent, not great)
    Evoland
Guardian of Paradise (free - fan translation)
    Lynn's Legacy (free)

Question marks mean I haven't played them so I am not sure if they are a good fit.

Sport games are not absent, but definitely under-represented. Also GT/Forza-like racing ones.

God of War or Bayonetta-style punchy-kicky-slaughterons are very few to be found on PC (and most of them rubbish).

Project CARS looks pretty promising in terms of GT/Forza-racing, but I haven't played cars myself yet.

Sports we mostly have FIFA/PES and the NBA2k series, I believe (maybe MLB2k as well?). As for racing, there's the F1 series, iRacing, Project Cars, and Grid/Dirt, but I'm probably missing something.

A couple more Metroidvanias (a term that I hate, by the way. This is Metroid's scene, Castlevania can just fuck off ) are Project Black Sun and La Mulana. I've played the former for a little bit, it seemed kind of dinky. I haven't played the latter, though I hope that it's good.

I'd like to nominate Iji for the Metroidvania section. As in, best PC Metroidvania ever.
Other metroidvanias might be the extremely known Cave Story and the ohmygodthereareloliseverywherekillthemkillthem Fortune Summoners

If you want to include japanese bullet hells into shoot-em-ups, there are a bunch available on Steam of varying (read: mostly crappy quality with lolis up the proverbial buttocks) degrees of quality, namely:
    -Hitogata Happa
    -Gundeadligne
    -GunDemonium Recollection
    -eXceed - Gun Bullet Children
    -eXceed 2nd - Vampire REX
-eXceed 3rd - Jade Penetrate Black Package

    Also japanese, sans lolis:

    -Satazius
    -Ether Vapor Remaster
    -Sine Mora

Western, I could only find aside from JamesTown, Razor 2: Hidden Skies

Aaand that's all I can come up with at the moment.

There's a whole lot of indie shoot-em-ups. I guess the reason for them being mostly indie is because even big-name ones seem to have small audiences in the west and not make it cross-platform even to other consoles.

Playing Iji was like playing a fanfic. Ugh.

    3rd person whatchamingos:
    - Prototype god dammit
    - Prototype 2, but who cares
    - Devil May Cry 3 god dammit
    - Devil May Cry 4 but who cares

Isn't prototype a sandbox game? God of war is supposed to be linear if remember correctly.

I preferred metroid far more than castlevania too, but the term is useful because people understand what it means.

DIRTBIKE GAMES! Only serious one on the market right now is MX Simulator. I played the demo, and it was ok-ish, but not so good that I'd want to pay 43 bucks for the full version. :P Yeah, yeah, there are some crappy ones as well like MX vs ATV and whatnot, but nothing on the market right now that touches the brilliance of Motocross Madness 2, from 12 years ago. The most promising thing on the horizon, dirtbike-wise, is GTA 5. :/

I actually played through that one. Liked it a lot, though the bossfights defenitely are too difficult to be any fun.

    Racing games and fighting games.

Largely because controllers tend to be better for those games.

Versus beat-em up games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have become very rare. Yes, there was a Street Fighter recently, but it's just a single game.

Not a single game, but three, actually. Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, and Street Fighter vs Tekken(which has a Steam Sale right now, as it happens).

Fighting games? Arguable(a lot), and racing games... yes, but if you're into that you should buy a steering wheel anyway.

Knew I was missing that. I thought there was one on PC where all the fighters are girls, but I can't remember its name.

Fighting games are 99% muscle memory, so the controller you start with is the controller you keep. Arcade gamers are arcade gamers through and through, and as fighting games are the domain of consoles when they're not in arcades, they're designed with that layout in mind: Joystick and buttons.
