What genres are under-represented on the PC? What PC games are in those genres?

I think you'll find waaay more space games on PC then on any console, or perhaps i'm just confused about the topic of the thread. Are we talking about genres which are under-represented relative to what's available elsewhere, or just underrepresented genres generally?

Here's some space games i can think of off the top of my head:
Freelancer, the X series, Independence War series, the X-wing series, Freespace series, the Wing Commnder series, Darkstar One, the Homeworld series, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, the Star Wolves series, etc. etc. etc.

There's quite a lot actually.

I was thinking more "in general" terms. Lately there has been a bit more space games coming out lately. I just don't think this genre see's the attention it deserves.

It's not really a credit to the Darksiders games to call them hack and slashers - They require too much thought. Capcom have been pretty decent at porting the Devil May Cry games over to PC - I'm not sure if anyone buys them though.

Doesn't that just mean they do hack and slash really well then?

What pc really lacks is hack'n slash games aka Ninja Gaiden/God Of War.

I'll go beyond genres. What the PC is missing the most is influence from Japanese developers. For various reasons they practically ignore PCs. Some of them release their games on PC, but most of them don't.

Yep, I absolutely agree. I think Western fans have cobbled together a lot of similar games on PC, but Japan just doesn't have the PC development culture that the West does. Well, that and Nintendo only releases on its own consoles.

We did get Cave Story first though.

PES is no longer developed in Japan, the latest game is developed in London. After so many critical and sales flops, something had to change.

I'd personally like to see a game similar to Smash Bros. on PC, but local multiplayer is incredibly rare, let alone local four person multiplayer.

Nah, I was talking about 4 people on the same box. Very local multiplayer.

There was Guilty Gear on pc back in 2004/05,and it was great fighting game (2d).
