The pricing thing is the reason that I only ever pick up Blizzard games a decade after they come out.

Annoying, isn't it? There are some games where the option for gifting does appear in the D2D check-out. I think it's only Steam games that are a problem.

I just bought FNV from d2d.co.uk (8.75) and I did get the option to gift it during checkout.

Same. He's most likely referring to when I tried to gift MW2 for him, where the gift option did not show up.
