Oh, er... that was meant for Axler, not the admins. Should have been clearer, sorry. Game's done now anyway.

The fact you are asking this question demonstrates you are not the man I thought you were.

although my star MB/JU/PO blitzer suffered a career ending -str from a foul on turn 16 - for shaaaaame.
He was supposed to have died when a bunch of zombies accidentally stepped on him on turn 6. Sadly it turns out the splinters have a competent apothecary in their employ so they had to "accidentally" him again on turn 16

Div I: Thunderbox Scramblers (Gob, Dog Pants) 1 - 2 DoD HavOrcs (Orc, Havocc)

The HavOrcs receive deep in their half and concentrate their attentions on the pair of trolls while forming a cage around a recovering thrower. Some goblins slip through the orc line as the cage starts to rumble forward, forcing some of the attackers to fall back and mark. Meanwhile their Blitzers push through the goblin defences, such as they are, to worry the back markers. As the cage approaches the centre line it comes under attack from a ball of goblins exploiting a hole made by the wandering fanatic, resulting in the ball being busted loose and ending up on the right hand side of the cage under the gaze of a Black Orc. The stunties fail to snatch it away from him, and despite struggling to pin the goblins down and clear them from the area the HavOrcs manage to recover it with a Blitzer in a light cage. The fanatic follows up, but only succeeds in knocking himself out on the green wall. The huddle of orcs presses on, pushed against the sideline by a steady flow of retreating of goblins, and three Scramblers behind the ball look like they might cause an obstacle until a Black Orc bags two in one punch by knocking a Scrambler out, who in turn launches his buddy into the crowd. The goblins struggle to get behind the ball now as the orc cage picks up strength and attrition takes its toll. But with time short a desperate goblin line pays off, forcing the ball carrying Blitzer to have to run between them. Against all the odds he does just that, crashing across the line in the last few seconds of the half.

The Scramblers set up heavily to the right as they receive a long ball. Shuttling it right back up the pitch, they pull off an almost perfect gobbo-throw, landing the ball carrier halfway to the touchline and barely within catching distance of the defence. As his teammates are swarmed by the rest of the goblin team, a lone Blitzer manages a desperate grab at the runner but only succeeds in helping him along with a shove. Wriggling away, the delighted goblin jumps over the line for a rapid touchdown, and carries on running before the Blitzer catches him.
The Scramblers kick again to the far left of the HavOrc side and begin their defence with the Fanatic knocking out one of his own teammates. The orcs follow suit, beating up more of the little guys while slowly starting a caged drive down the side of the pitch. As the goblins are overcome the drive gathers momentum, and with the half nearly over they thunder across the line with only a token resistance.
Mere minutes remain of the half and the Scramblers form up to attempt a predictable throw play again. The HavOrcs form a wall across the touchline in anticipation, but in an anticlimax the goblin midfielder fails to pick the ball up and the game ends with a lineorc punching his goblin opposite in the face.

Mumbles and I had a game in division E. I had one of those games where all the dice go my way, which with Mumbles rocking a 600TV deficit made things very tough for him. He very nearly pulled off a draw, but I was able to score a 2-turner via a chain push on turn 16 to score the winner.

Cheers for the game. Sorry about the ulf :(

Much as I would have liked to dismantle them the way I did the Scrubs - alas it was not to be. Even with a fireball and merc Yeti and my own bloodthirsty eagerness to end Div E with a three-way tie.

Despite stripping away some niggled players and being left with 9 men for next month - the core is safe and I'm content considering the jump up to Tier 3 was unexpected and probably undeserved as well! As to the Ulf - you were more upset than I was ... in 6 games he's been lying in the dugout more than anything and hadn't managed a single casualty. Not fit to fetch my slippers!

And thus ends my season of doom in Tier 3 - can I volunteer for relegation? Or do I go down anyway? Just kidding - I'll take whatever happens next in stride - even if it is another month of useless illusionist wizards masquerading as a threat, heheh!

We shall meet again Everblue - and since you're the only person I've played more than once - and you've beaten me everytime - you're seriously starting to grind my gears! :P

2 games, 2 losses, 2 players out for a match and only 1 level up... Not a great start for Jclofz Boyz! On the plus side my thrower rolled a double so I gave him Strong Arm cos thats what the internets said was good! Also the guys who beat me were very nice about it, so cheers for the games fellas!

Well another loss and lots of injuries for my Delf team. Rebooting next season, thinking about making a go of Delfs again but as a new(ish) coach is there any other teams that have a bit of flavour but aren't so bad at low TV?

Delfs aren't bad at low TV - they have ag4 and relatively sturdy armour right out of the box.

Found it really hard to break down opposing cages - often i roadblock an advance into my half but they always seem to manage to break through and score when they're in range - if i do manage to blitz a corner it doesn't seem to delay them. I have made quite a few mistakes and started without a runner, Welf or Apo. Is it just practice or is there something glaring I'm doing wrong?

Dark elfs aren't bad at low TV, but they're... not so much "not great" as just tricky to play. If you want AV8 and AG4 you could try high elfs, for a much more straightforward elfy style of play. Or if you want sturdiness, flavour and general being-quite-good-especially-for-a-new-coachness then orcs are pretty awesome out of the box.

Dark elves lack a bunch of core skills which hurts their play a bit at low TV and makes them bloaty later. No Pass or Catch means they can't play with the ball as well as other rookie elf teams.

Fortunately they have 4 Block players out of the box to make up for this, but that (and their weirdly specialist positional - and utterly optional - players) makes them a unique experience.

With dark elves - learn to crowdsurf. AG4 and frenzy is very strong and you can make your opponent scared to go near the edges (anything within 3 squares of the edge can be fair game if you position correctly). When you have a couple of extra players it gets a lots easier to beat up the opposition.

Honestly? Delves are fine at low TV(compare to ag3 teams with no or 2 blockers) , like all elves they top out when they start evaporating. But even evaporating they are fine as long they can afford their blitzers. But IMHO Delves are capped at "fine" without stat ups.

High Elves might be less obviously awesome if you look at the blitzers as as toughness but god damn, those catchers and throwers can do obscene things, contrasted against gutter runners they swap 1mv for 1st.

Pro elves are my personal team they are essentially High Elves on acid. No, honestly, I think that's how they were thought up.

Have you considered a preskilled team like orcs skaven or human? Immediate access to sure hands, plenty of block, pass and variations on moving the ball (TTM on orcs catchers from the others).
