Thing with the zerkers is that you're going to want to be Piling On, which kinda makes the DT of less general use.. BUT, I can see great possibilities of stopping a man that you're Frenzying towards a crowd surf from getting away from you...

Yeah, that's the idea. Obviously, you can choose whether or not to pile on, so you pick your moments (other times not to use piling on - when you're about to get 8 man fouled next turn - stand up!). Generally you'll want to pile on to a poor squishy runner, but if you're the last man, you might want to leave him standing to mark the player up. In that case, DT is handy for the following turn, not only are they knocked down, they need to beat the DT to get away. I don't have a 'safety' right now, and I think a zerker is suitable, given i use the runners as big-guy bait and the wolves to bulk the team up around the pitch (particularly with one with str5!). The zerkers are there to take people out. I'm talking myself into diving tackle, but I think that's mostly due to my hatred of gutter runners.

The runners can get Jump Up, though as you point out it's another skill so it's more of a reach. If DT causes a turnover JU's not so important anyway though.

I don't think Norse can afford generalists on the team - every player has to specialise at what they do as their stats are otherwise unremarkable, and at AV7 you need several specialists for each role. If the 'zerker gets DT now he'll be a good marker/chaser, but that's that much less killing power on the team, more weight for the ulfs and other 'zerker to carry. It's a strong choice, but I'd still lean towards survivability or extra killing power.

Dodge isn't just survivability.. just the potential to be able to extend that killing power (via a dodge) to another area of the pitch is one more thing that the opponent is going to have to consider when marking/screening against you

I would love to apply to join the division of death for the next season.

I have filled in my details on the spreadsheet and I am ready to go.

I am leaving for holiday this Sunday but should still be able to check the forums. I will be back in time for the new season start!

My jump up+wrestle zombie must have passed 90% of his AG2 dodges, when he didn't he'd spring to his feet and do it the next turn or 3+to jump up block and wrestle the opposition down.

    He died (again) too young.

But gutter runners are so fluffy and and cute and and score lots of touchdowns and pop the ball free and generally pull off all the insane crap my mind comes up with. Nothing to hate here

THe funny thing is that my players rarely die, or even get stat injuries... just a lot of BH. Unlike my much more expensive wood elves, who are a crowd of niggles.

I don't normally do match reports, but: My ogres scored a TD!

True, they also conceded 3, but still! I count that as a success by Ogre standards. Less successful was the snotling throwing, with two landing right next to the ogre and one managing to miss the pitch entirely, sailing gracefully into the adoring crowd. He was then given hugs.

Can an admin validate the game, pretty please? I need to buy additional green men. Its Div J.

    Welcome!

Keep in mind we have just started this season, so there's still at the very least 25 days to go until we wrap it up. You'll be back in time, just keep an eye out on this particular thread or the fixtures in the Google spreadsheet in three to four weeks so you don't miss out.

    Welcome Coxy!
As others have said, keep an eye in here and feel free to ask questions. I recommend subscribing to the thread (at the top of the page, thread tools) so you keep up with what's happening and get your application in the right division on time. Look out for larger font and red text for end/beginning of season announcements (or me being shouty in general!), as VV said, will probably be about 25 days from now. Look forward to playing you!

True but I'm usually not keen on giving them both PO. They are one of your few pieces who can take guard without doubles and that needs them upright. Dodge is always nice but sidestep & guard for his next skill would make him useful both as a safety and cage harassment. SS also has the virtue over dodge of keeping him close and since he has JU already hell still get the hits in. Also who you are facing this month would probably factor - lots of tackle would make dodge a waste a bit I reckon.

Thespian Liberation Front 1-0 Crappy Comedians

    Well, that was interesting.

The first half mainly consisted of both teams being bloody useless, with no points scored. However, 2lab quickly found out that 1 player with block versus 5 players with block generally equals no rerolls. All this lead to was all our players standing in the middle of the pitch desperately trying to out bash each other, and about 3 players on either team actually doing anything. And then Charlie Chaplin fractured his skull. Like a loser.

The next half was a tad more eventful, with the Thespians managing to get one over on the comedians and sneak a few players over for a (relatively) quick touchdown. The comedians continued being bloody useless. Red skulls and ones abounded, and apparently the ghouls left their ball-handling gloves at home, because the only times they got close to the ball they had to punt it about for a bit before picking the damn thing up. The highlight of the match was a wight dodging into 2 tacklezones, picking up the ball, dodging out, and then running away and throwing the ball down the field in turn sixteen to deny a (impossible) second touchdown. Hey, it looked cool, alright?

Anyway, thanks for the game 2lab, and the rivalry between actors and comedians shall continue heartily i feel, especially if that 4 strength beastman dickhead continues to feature.

    EDIT:Nope, i'm a dumbass.

Just noticed that the Div D fixtures on the spreadsheet don't match up with the fixtures in game. We've arranged according to the game (me vs. Zoraster, BigC vs. WebCole), I daren't touch the sheet in case it bites me.

If no one else gets onto it I'll sort them in game when I get a minute boss. BigC and WebCole aren't meaning to play before us are they?

EDIT: just checked that... suppose I better hop on and sort it now as they want to play tonight.

EDIT EDIT: Ah, the fixtures have been changed on the sheet... guess that was a result of Web taking his team out for a bit and returning. Well I can't fix that but unless Screwie/Groovy wants to mend it we can just ghetto it.
