Well, well, well! Got the July Paradox newsletter, and look what I find inside:
“Captain Smith” joins ranks with Paradox Interactive
Former Rock, Paper, Shotgun journalist Quintin Smith is joining us at Paradox! Quintin will work with the marketing team as the Creative Marketing Commissar, though whether he’ll stay when he finds out the job doesn’t involve ordering around a small private army is unknown. Check out some of his most appreciated work here.
Was this already known?

Why is this in Rock Paper Shotgun discussion? Should be in the "dirty splitters" section instead. Quinns is dead to us!

Quinns really, really needs to slide into writing for games now - seriously, Ice Pick Lodge games written by Quinns. Think about it.

"Creative Marketing Commissar."
Is that a thing? (Genuine question, I'm not being snarky.)A brave heart and a courteous tongue. They shall carry thee far through the jungle, manling.

Now it makes sense. Is there a man among us who would refuse an opportunity to be called Commissar?

BONUS ROUND. There's some more info on Paradox's website; including a quote from HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED.
And Temple, that location's manually entered, although I support its integration as a feature.

Quinn's part in the press release is great:
Oh god, I miss him. I'm such a softie.
Edit: Ok, SMiD, you win this one. I'll be ready next time ¬¬

I hope this wont effect how often episodes of SUaSD are released

"You don't turn down a job in California," Quintin added.
Argh! This is exactly why I miss him already !
Also, it's strange, but Quinns' humour doesn't work as well as in writing in his vidcast about cardgames...

I'm going to be a meanie and say I found the videos really, really uncomfortable, despite being absolutely consumed with love for the man. He is A Writer, not an actor, and that's more than okay. I really miss his captivating, exploratory NGJ stories and astoundingly thorough breakdowns of tiny-yet-beautiful obscurities - it's the stuff he does best and for some reason I don't think his board games stuff (even written) exposes any of his brilliance. When Quinns left I was kind of optimistic in that it might mean less regular but more meaty pieces for RPS, or more stuff like Battle Klaxon, so I hope this board game venture doesn't subtract attention from those.
As I side note, I totally met Quinns and his girlfriend in person once. I'm kind of ashamed to say I recognised his face from RPS/blog pictures - I think it was the first time he'd been recognised in public. ANYWAY - it was a scary, scary coincidence: meeting this source of personal inspiration, whilst still a bit drunk, at a bus stop at like 3am on a Sunday (or something stupid like that), during a total of only, like, five days spent in London, before me and my friends flew home to the other side of the world. Can't help but feel I must have creeped Mr. Smith the fuck out.

Could you link to Quinns previous videos please? (before SU&SD)

Not too sure he did vids before. Hence why we all mistakenly buy strangers drinks in the pub thinking it is he.
He does/did a lot of written word. Only after being a big fan of Battle Klaxon did I discover it was he.Try London on Board for free and easy boardgaming
