It's important to remember Christmas is about family and sharing, it's a time of joy an- nuts to that, let's talk about presents! I got a nail file set (also known as a manicure set, but manicure doesn't sound like a very manly word even though it has man in it), The Dark Knight Rises, Red Dwarf X, Mafia II, tin of chocolate biscuits, Unforgiven, Lynx, socks (the person who gave me this has already been dealt with), lumberjack jacket, and a special HP Sauce giftset. I have HP Sauce with every meal to recharge my Britishness. Even though it's no longer made in Britian.

And yes I'm aware I'm a day early. My family ended up opening the presents today for work schedule reasons.

So what loot did you make off with this Christmas?

I just opened a present wrapped in adult wrapping paper--a cardboard box with an Amazon logo on it--and found it to be a Lego Star Wars ship--the ARC-170. I barely remember it from whatever terrible movie it's from, but it's a cool little model. It reminds me of the Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop.

Early because not much is going on Christmas that I feel like partaking in. A simple brunch tomorrow with select family will complete the holiday for me.

As of now I've got good quality art supplies (including a bunch of markers I fell in love with), Sony MDR-ZX300 headphones and a monoprice tablet.
Tomorrow I'll most likely get a couple of t-shirts and a book. With any luck a comic too.

Off steam? Nada, amazon got money off me for LEGO LotR for the kids for a tuppence, Gamefly I got Dead Island for my wife.

I got a bunch of chocolates, some books, a weather predicting curio (an Admiral Fitzroy Weatherglass if anyone's familiar with it), a pair of battle-ready heavy gauntlets and a gladius to go with my lorica segmentata. (Yes, I collect armour, I'm strange)

Also my neighbours blasted dubstep for six hours. Thanks guys.

I gots one o dem TV game thingamies that you plug into your telly and there's, like, ten games on it. It's a Space Invaders one but it's also got Alpine Ski, Birdie King, Bubble Bobble (the main reason why I wanted it), Chack'n Pop, Fairyland Story, Legend Of Kage (the other reason why I wanted it), Puzznic, Quix (also a good reason) and Tube-It. As far as "TV games" go it's got the best emulation I have seen. It's pretty cool but the sound doesn't emulate right in a couple of the games (notably Bubble Bobble), there's occasional visual artifacts or at least on my TV there is, they put the stick on the right side instead of the left (like, what?) and I suck so much at Alpine Ski it's ridiculous. You'd fall over laughing and hit your head but that's not really the fault of the machine. It probably could have done without Fairyland Story because it's not as good as and too much like Bubble Bobble and Birdie King because that shit's too much of a hassle without a trackball. Why not Elevator Action or Great Swordsman or Typhoon Gal or even Rainbow Islands. Rainbow Islands kicks arse.

I finally got Born Too Late on vinyl after asking for it about ten years ago. It's still a fantastic album.

A nanoblock model of Schloss Neuschwanstein. It's like LEGO only a single block is about 4x4x5mm or something. It's actually the first thing that I ever put on my desk that wasn't a CD so now I can be like all the other nerds who stockpile plastic crap to clog up their work station.

Our Band Could Be Your Life and Lexicon Devil - The Short Life and Fast Times Of Darby Crash and The Germs which I'll get right into once I'm done reading American Hardcore for the fifth time.

Oh, and some fart-knocker got me some Beavis and Butt-Head DVDs. I got no idea why it's not 1996 anymore.

From the wife 'n kids I got - 2 bars of chocolate, 2 pairs of socks, Cormac McCarthy's No Country...., a travel mug with photos of them on it and The Geek Dad Book for Aspiring Mad Scientists.

From other family and friends: random bits and chocs, some nice wine and beer and a USB man.

Bought the wife the King of Tokyo boardgame and the kids got a shit-ton of cool Lego, so all is good.

Books books books. Started reading Herodotus' Histories, the rest are an assortment from Sherlock Holmes to Iain M Banks latest novel. Also Dragon's Dogma for PS3, some chocolates and a surprisingly large sum of money that will be partially spent on a new camera, once I work out what I want.
