I do love the new comet. Actually used int for a couple of minutes when Charlie was working with Delta at LithCorp. One shot from each arm = instant kill on infantry. With the muzzle velocity increase, that'sd quite feasible at medium range! Unload both arms into a MAX and with two or three regular infantry buddies, that MAX is gone in seconds. Both of these things happened yesterday at LithCorp.

Yeah I tried it, didnt really get to shoot anything but it seemed really nice. I was just worried the damage might have been a wee bit low but it feels kinda nice.

    From today's update:

"All capture times have now been standardized:

    • Small Outposts take 4 minutes
    • Large Outposts take 7 minutes
    • Facilities take 10 minutes
      • Influence bonus during capture has been removed
      • Bonus for number of players on the point has been removed"

So now all caps take the same amount of time no matter what? Single man ghost caps and full combat platoon caps are identical...

I'm assuming you can still only cap adjacent territory though?

I'm not sure, if not it'll be the chequerboard of PS1 with a gazillion back caps.

From memory, you still have to have the adjacency in order to cap somewhere - but it won't speed up your cap time. Or slow it down, for that matter, so you can cap places with low adjacency in the same time as somewhere with high adjacency.

Well that's a bit of a game changer - so you only need to flip the point now and then overwatch it?

Yeah, but you know exactly how much time you have left to get a point back. I reckon these changes are to set things up for the Lattice system that's currently on the test server:

Yeah those changes are exactly for that. It also means that we do not have to put 6 guys with nothing to do during a base cap. Those guys can instead help securing the base.

Yeah I think that's exactly what's going on - some of these changes will be interesting in terms of where the fights are on a point - before you'd have a general scrum around the point trying to push people off it, now the options for protecting it might be more open.

Alternatively it might just end up with one faction spawn-locked and a swarm of enemies around the spawn.

Not sure how pissed people are going to be, but here it is:

The blueshift has been buffed and is now impressively accurate. More so than the Cosmos. Problem is, the cosmos now has the accuracy of the old blueshift.

Maybe those that are 'unhappy' should submit a support ticket and ask for exchanging cosmos to blueshift.

Well the cosmos is now the weapon of choice for CQB then and the blushift for longrange

Are the cosmos and blueshift the anti-infantry weapons? I've always felt the maxes to be a bit rubbish at range so it's good to hear that there is an option now at least.

Hm, I might be a bit unhappy about that, since I bought the Cosmos because it was the superior choice for longer range fights, and have Nebulas for bio labs and the like. Will have to give them a try.

Cosmos, Blueshift, Quasar and Nebula are all anti-infantry weapons.

    Edit: Woot! 1000th post!

There's going to be a large-scale playtest on the testserver tonight, 7 p.m. UTC.

Copy pastin' from SA, haven't had a chance to try it out:

Yeah so spilling the beans so everyone can benefit before it gets fixed,

Trial a weapon, equip it in a loadout and log out until the trials over, grats you now have that weapon for free. You can remove it and swap it out but you cant put certs into it so that means get all the launchers and MAX weapons.

Ooof! I'd warn anyone of using exploits, though. SOE might decide to hit people with the banhammer if they're unlucky.

Also new helmets and armour. Dunno if the latter is a replacement for Composite or a full refresh:

I do so dislike new NC helmet, it looks terrible.
