Hence less score/hour than a MAX that is spawned and used only for the duration of a particular action.

As for better KDR, a smaller sample would be skewed by higher level and skill players.
Except on Miller VS pulled more maxes than NC prior to ZOE (thanks for Cupboys stored information) and had higher score and average time max used.
Sadly can't find general numbers for all servers, so have to look at all separately.

The copy Cupboy sent you has ~15 k/hr for both Fracture arms compared to ~9 k/hr for both Comet arms. Both Mercy arms are ~33 k/hr to ~34/khr for both Blueshift arms.

There is a huge disparity in score/hour in favour of VS MAXes, with them scoring 19680/hr compared to 17997/hr for TR and 16002/hr for NC. 3704 VS though pulled and played the class for more than 60 minutes, compared to 3003 for TR and 2649 for NC, so the greater score may be also attributed to VS MAXes winning engagements due to greater numbers, not necessarily because of ZOE. Of course, they pulled more MAXes because of ZOE, but is it the usability or the cool factor that are the cause?

On that last point, ZOE is certainly an easier ability to find uses for. Lockdown and Aegis you have to judge where and when to engage it.

Wow, amazing kills/hour stats for all the scatmax guns. (from PS2 stats - I'm guessing they don't get reset for changes though?)

Course, is that just because NC only bother pulling them when they know they will be good (biolabs)? While VS now run maxes all the while because they are a better alternative to heavies?

what i find funny about this whole thing is how reminiscent it is to the mag nerf in gu2 (to make this clear, zoe might be a little overpowered and it's ok to nerf it). back then, higby published the graphs that made the whole community shout out angrily for nerfs. we came up with stuff like the mag being the only only good tank for ranged engagements (they overfixed that), and argued that metrics like these were pretty meaningless without more context and more variables. amongst others, we argued that if it turned out that mags used secondaries more than other tanks, these stats would transform from 'omgnerfthisshit' to 'what the hell did you expect'. that site i linked coffeetable has all-time stats for lots of things, as it turns out ... mags have/had a massively higher usage rate for av secondaries, specifically the saron (there's 120k people who bought one; it's been used for 86k hours, which is almost as much as the time in all prowler/van av secondaries combined).

anyway, what i'm saying is that arguing with raw stats can be hard or even deceiving as long as we don't have all the variables we need for a real analysis.

It's just that they're so utterly shit everywhere else and that makes them frankly boring. The only time I've had fun with a MAX in open air was getting an engie to the vehicle gen at the southeast of Howling Pass. Even then, fun's a relative term, seeing half the shots get through my shield practically had me in tears. If we had an AI weapon that was decent at a range further than our noses that didn't take 3.5k certs to obtain, I bet our MAXes would see more use elsewhere, which in theory would also reduce their use in biolabs due to cooldown, resources etc

Game Update 10 - new alert types are in, customisable squad colours are in, loadsa fixes and more stuff.

The new alert types are going to be interesting (the moment you complete the objective you win the alert, not to mention global all-continent alerts), but also warp gates have been rotated so the strategic layer of the game will have shifted up as well.

Just been dicking around on the test server with a pair of characters, and by jumping just before changing strafe direction you can ignore the momentum nerf completely. Kills your COF, but that ain't so bad at the distance you use strafing anyway.

Also we're back in the Indar canyons, woo.

also: even if youre not in our outfit, general forum rules apply anyway, bankrotas. Just wanted to make that clear since eclectic mentioned the giraffes specifically ;D

Not that I think you did anything.

Seems to have been solved wonderfully, carry on! Cheers eclectic and all involved!

Indeed, I don't envy the ScatMAX at all. Part of the reason they were so annoying pre-nerf as well was that it just didn't make any sense for them to be so specialised. Clearly they want to retain faction flavour with the MAXes but the NC definitely need a bit more variety. Also nerf Fracs pls.

If anyone wants to start a petition/event against the promotion BCP I will gladly sign up too.

Well couldn't try out platoon squad colours. Not enough numbers, I know RPS would pull enough numbers, did you guys try it out?

Yeah, you basically have to go to the platoon overview in your social tab, where you can click on the individual squads on the top of the screen. Which was confusing at first because I expected to find the settings right beneath the colour options for the factions. Anyway, I kept all the colors at default and changed Charlie to teal. It's a nice enough colour which doesn't clash with my empire-specific colouring of the other factions.

Someone on the official forums raised an interesting point regarding the new health bar render distance.

It's likely to be tied in to implants which barring delays are imminent, highly likely that there will be one which increases the distance at which the bars show. I believe something similar to this was in PS1.
