Rookie Cup - Linemen Only Protoleague

Suggested off hand in the dod thread, what about a lineman only league. Essentially teams are limited to their most prolific players (Undead can pick which between zombie and skeleton).

I will theory craft now that maybe these could be allowed entry to DoD upon leaving here.

A flat random draw of 4 team divisions on a semi relaxed timetable.

Sure elf teams are clear options but without their blitzers, throwers or catchers a skill equipped team like norse might be dominant.

Interesting idea. I would definitely be tempted to field a Rotters team, for giggles.

Although forget elves, surely Chaos are the scary side in this matchup? Their 'linemen' are all blitzers with ST access.

Will there be restrictions on star players? (I assume the other positions won't be allowed as mercenaries.)

The only sensible thing to do would be to choose one team and have everyone stick to it. Having said that - Beastman league anyone?

Beastmen or High Elves certainly seem like the standout choices. You'd have to have everyone play as the same race unless this was strictly for lols.

High elves?? Dark elf linemen are clearly superior - by which I mean exactly the same, but better dressed.

Although I would be quite tempted by wood elves for the MA 7.

I think they'd be too slow. Without your runners and blitzers then sure you obliterate on the line of scrimmage but after that you waddle very, very slowly around the pitch begging the MV 6 and 7 players to slow down for you? Tackle is a wasted skill when no one has dodge. And against, say, Humans you give up enough TV for a couple of Bloodweiser Babes so your superior bashing is stunted.

I think if this is to work you'd need everyone playing with the same team (or a few very carefully picked choices). I'd vote for a bunch of linemen without any starting skills whatsoever, and keep strict TV limit on all teams.

I dunno about stars, but yes I was looking to suppress positionals.

edit: Mix and match - Without any starting (no Norse etc) is refering to starting skills.

That's what I was meaning except with no skills has my vote, I cant see elves being a fair peer with no positionals but skill flood teams like norse and amazon just invite counterman-ship.

I'd say ST3, AG3 and no skills (so basically humans, orcs, or skaven).
