    Ermmmmmmmmmmm - Qualcomm then...

I don't normally pay attention to CES but I missed this - you may have missed it too - and you'll regret that :)

Instead of the usual MS opening to CES - Qualcomm got the job this year - and as they really have almost nothing to sell and NINETY minutes to fill - the Twilight Zone was brought into full effect.

The 'best of' video is mind-melting - it's almost impossible to imagine that anyone (apart from Grainger Games perhaps) could have done worse...

I think it was amazing. I'd rather watch something like this instead of the usual stuff.

Qualcomm doesn't even sell anything to consumers, they have nothing to lose. Hopefully they'll replace MS and open every CES with stunts like this.

    Holy shit, that's amazing.

Possibly for none of the reasons Qualcomm wanted it to be.

CES trying to one-up E3 I see with the cringe factors.

Those actors can never show their faces in public again.

I'm assuming they're a renegade US comedy movement who pretend to make chips for mobiles just so they can embarrass the US IT industry?

What the hell was that? The person in charge must have either had a stroke of genius or just a stroke.

Alice Eve might be the Yao Ming of "What the fuck is this?"

    Awesome...

I'd like to watch. But I get both a feeling I am being destroyed from inside via an opening in my eyes, and I feel for those who had to site there in reality and experience this. Kind of a mix of pain and empathy for others. I might go out and help someone to feel better.

    Was hilarious though!

PS, Ballmer would make the scariest crazy dangerous person ever in a movie... oh and in fiction.

Half the internet is talking about this right now.

I'd say it was a success.

PT Barnum once said that there was no such thing as bad publicity.

The families of Jimmy Saville or the guy who carried-out the Sandy Hook shootings might disagree with that...

If their sole intention was to get people talking about their company, well that's succeeded - but I'd question what we're talking about and whether it's actually useful to them (because this will have cost a LOT of money!)

I get the impression that the image people are trying to create these days is of 'coolness' in the eyes of the sort of people who can't stop posting on the Internet - companies still think harnessing that is worthwhile (I'd says it never was and never will be)

But then I've no idea what Qualcomm could have been trying here - I suspect it's actually one big ego trip for 'a CEO' - and let's be honest, you can do anything short of murdering babies and be seen as a success in that job.

Don't forget getting caught doing something illegal that also screws over the company.

Perhaps Qualcomm was only trying to make a memorable and fun CES opening?
It was fucking hilarious. Maybe its critics lost their inner child.
I mean how is it not funny to see Ballmer, Big Bird, Desmond Tutu and Maroon 5 with Dido playing over the stream? It's top-tier surreal humour. Who cares if it wasn't intentional?
