It is interesting how sequel syndrome appears in the list. Portal 2 in my mind is not better than Portal 1, more refined yes...the mystery and innovation was gone. Same reason Bioshock would be on the list for me and not Bioshock 2 even though 2 was a far more refined experienced. On the other hand, Borderlands 1 was far inferior to Borderlands 2, though I might give it to General Knoxx.

I absolutely agree, although I think Bioshock showed greater craft. Bioshock II was far more explicit in its critique of Collectivism where Bioshock was implicit in its critique of Objectivism.

Interesting idea,what if we create our top list of pc games since 2006,rules could go like this: Every person can vote only once and list only ten games,then the one who created the thread count the votes and put how many each game got,and then after lets say two weeks or even a month ("Time Limit" for voting) he write down top 25 games with most votes. But in the progress he writes down every game we voted and its votes.

I would play the hell out of something called Minceraft...

I am fairly sure Notch/Mojang has already incorporated it into the game... there's a slim chance that, on Startup, the title screen will display Minceraft, rather than Minecraft. Also, if I remember correctly, there was a (short lived) parody/satire called Minceraft, that came about during the whole Scrolls vs. The Elder Scrolls stuff. Also, if I'm remembering correctly yet again, in one of the lawsuits Mojang/Notch has received (to do with an "Electronic method of unlocking software after a fee has been received" or similar, one of those patent troll type things), the claimant misspelled Minecraft as Minceraft.

For myself, I think I genuinely made the typo years ago, but decided to stick with it.

Edit: That last one wasn't right... it was misspelled as Mindcraft in the litigation.

25. Far Cry 2.
Unplayable with the same problem Red Faction Guerrilla: enemies spawning behind you.

24. Batman Arkham Asylum.
Nice expansion of the original idea. Too big console influence in some part.

23. Amnesia.
I don't remember playing it. Maybe I don't played it. I dunno.

22. Crysis.
Graphically very interesting, but a Meh as shooter. Enemies had laser accuracy, so moving was a chore, vehicular combat was unfun (spray and pray).

21. Sins of a Solar Empire.
Nice, but lack a campaing. Just a RTS with a space skin.

20. Minceraft.
Do you mean Minecraft?, is a legend now.

Rather good game, but the boss parts had too much console influence, and not alternative solutions for the most part.

18. Diablo III.
Fun for a while.

17. Left4Dead2.
I had more fun with L4D1

16. League of Legends.
Really fun, and the lore make it even more fun. I love it to bit, but the graphics have perhaps overdone the cell effect.

15. WoW Cataclysm.
Even wow is now a wow clone.

14. GTA IV.
The GTA serie is the most boring GTA type of game. IV was dullest than dull.

13. Borderlands.
A great game. It destroyed some RPG and multiplayer standards, and made the world better with it. And perhaps the only game, ever, with decent DLC's that are worth downloading.

12. Civ V.
Very good.

11. Mass Effect 2.
Amazing adventure, made everybody wanting more.

10. Total War: Shogun 2.
Not my tea cup.

9. The Witcher 2.
I liked 1 more. W2 feel influenced by consoles, has strange gameplay ideas that made it unfun.

8. Team Fortress 2.
Hilarious has is limited.

7. Fallout 3.
Great game, but is the small brother to New Vegas that is a all times classic.

6. Portal 2.
Amazing great, amazing story, slightly flawed game.

5. Company of Heroes.
Perhaps one of the best RTS games made ever.

4. StarCraft II.
Never played.

3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
It was amazing.

2. Half Life 2: Episode 2.
A rather good voyage.

1. BioShock.
Overrated.

You realize that whole point of the game is that you're a huge part of the problem, right? The ending is not ambiguous about this.

You got to the end? I got 40% of the way through and was losing the will to live.

Also Bioshock bored me senseless. It's a game I feel I should love, but I wasn't sold on the spaces. Everything just stinks of game level.

Some of those choices are actually not bad save for Diablo. Its only claim to fame is its DRM!

But I doubt anyone at IGN picked them for the right reasons and just named games that came to mind.

That makes their pick of Diablo 3 and the first Borderlands even worse.

Diablo3 was the only release for its franchise since 2006.

Borderlands 2 was not released until after this list was made.
