    Forced March - Colonisation(civ4)

When setting up pitboss for another game I furrowed my brow at the automatic turn processing. Essentially after a set amount of time the game would move the game along.

This really changes the rythmn of pitboss games as the game moves at its own pace, a weekend away means missed turns.

Colonisation seems particularly suitable due to the complete competence of the AI at housekeeping.

I would intend 48 hour processes and 4 players.

    Any takers?

I would be, if we abandoned the "play-by-dropbox" game we have on the go (which I appear to be losing, and is only 3 players. I'm happy to play it out though, it you and Dom want to continue)

Count me in and drop the other one. Although I am not a fan of dropping out of a game, the dropbox col game misses to much to be fun. Besides, Helio won.

Although, I do wish to dare you to give that mass city strategy another try in a new game :P

On the automatic turns, yeah it would work better. Especially mid game, missing a turn isn't that bad.

Also, are we sticking to the same countries? Seeing this new game more as a rematch (with a possible french player)?

You don't need civ knowledge, as it sometimes works against you in this game :P. Col only looks like civ, but plays different.

Let's push on then and try to get 8 players :D.

Ugh, 8 player games have 2 ways to be managed. Synergy and separate, they are either bound to each other or they are separate, but I'm not clear if either way they share a Royal force.

I would go for synergy, link a more experienced player to a newer one. Might make it easier for newer players to join, as there is a safety net to catch them.

I am inclined to play George Washington of the English.

I would favour Samuel de Champlain, or any of the two dutch leaders. But I assume someone else might like to give the dutch a try, so give me Samuel de Champlain and I'll represent the french.

As long as I don't have to play spain, somehow I always go down with them :(

The Spanish are fine, it's St Martin and his exterminate Natives or bust that's the problem. I found out you can gift natives cannons and boats... Oooh!

Edit: just remembered that riad told me his preference "whatever", so unless we get any more players I'll set up the server. I am looking considering direct ip as that means one less wheel to fail.

THINK, THEN MOVE, THINK, THEN MOVE

Ugh, wasn't too bad but I am terrified of burial grounds after the last game... I need a scout, I reason that the horse helps him run away from the furious natives.

Riad: What would you say to a Fall From heaven server in the same thread? I'm not sure if the games complexity would make the risk of missing a turn terrible.

We tried to get FfH2 working with pitboss for the other game, but failed.

there are a few differences on the pitboss working or not part:

    1) FfH2 is a mod, the col game is the base game
    2) We had to connect on the direct connect way with the FfH2 mod game, but this is through the server list. Not sure if this is making it different?
    3) FfH2 is notorius for breaking in multiplayer games, especially with pitboss.
