Really. What can they do to get me interested in the free beta? This time last year I would have bitten their hands off. But now... I've no desire to even give them my email address... :(

    [Fires up Sim City 4]

beta builders only get to play a snapshot of game for up to 1 hour at any point between January 25 and January 28.
THEY CAN DO THIS ALREADY?! That does not bode well for when it's paid for either... :O

It really stretches the meaning of the term "beta" if you're actively forbidden from... beta testing.

To be fair, it was a pretty short post.

Everyone moaning about this always on DRM on here has had a steam account for some time no doubt.

You only have yourselves to blame.

Simcity does look lovely, and a Simcity game. I'm gonna wait for a WoT about it but I can't see myself not buying it.

Got some shots from a beta tester and... holy shit, you guys ain't kidding they're tiny!

Then again, it's still in beta phase

And a few pics of the zoning and upgrading processes

I gotta be honest with you but the game looks gorgeous. A tad generic with the overall architecture but gorgeous.

Steam has an offline mode, also what I heard was that SimCity will only cloud save, meaning it's basically useless for me to play on the train on my laptop.

Are the cities really not getting bigger than that? Looks like The Sims 3.

You know you can play Steam games offline, right?

And I buy DRM free games in the Steam account. I also have an Origin account I don't use because of DRM (only linked to games I got before Origin). So, your point?

You forget the 4 other Sim city games I purchased with CD checks and nothing more?

Here is the smallest city grid in Sim City 4.

Not sure how it compares. As long as it's not the smallest "City" size. Else they really should have called it "Sim Suburbs/zones/towns". ;)

Oh, and there I am almost complementing Sim5. It's like saying how nice a meal is when knowing the garnish is your best friends liver. :O

When you think things can't get worse:
    http://www.sidequesting.com/2013/01/...eporting-bugs/

In a nutshell, if they know that you didn't report a bug they know that you knew of, they can ban you out of your EA game library...
Oh the fun! There is the EULA at the end of the article but could someone having access to the beta EULA check paragraph 6.2, please?

According to Maxis, the size of a city in SimCity 2013 is 2km2. This is a quarter of the size of a large city in SimCity 4, which is 4km2, and roughly 1.5% of the size of SimCity 3000's 32km2.

At this rate, the next SimCity and the next The Sims will be the same size.

Like others on this thread I am amazed there is still interest for this game.

The graphics look good (albeit horribly generic) but there are so many reasons, both ingame and out, not to get this.

Unless half the news, declared so far, is reversed I almost certainly won't be buying the game.

Luckily, there are a few other city builders in development so hopefully they will be good :)

Fortunately for me, I have only just got bored with SimCity 2000 and have recently purchased SimCity 4. Therefore I suspect I will not need another SimCity game until about 2019.

    The question then becomes "...why?"

Also, they already said your SC2013 map is 2km2, equivalent to a medium SC4 map.
