I guess this is one of the techniques used for cheating. Disrupt or throttle your connection and move out against enemies and shoot them. Turn connection back on, boom everyone died.

Sorry if I'm being naive, but why would you cheat in PS2? What is there possibly to gain?
Why would you cheat in most games? Because it makes the cheater feel good that he's killing/trolling/annoying people.
Not really a question of why, most people wouldn't, just if you can someone will. Its human nature, given a large enough sample of population you'll find a complete and utter shithead.
Exactly they do not really cheat to win but rather to annoy other people. Just like people love griefing by flipping galaxys in the warpgate etc.
Ah yes -- and this is why I no longer play games online: other people!
THings like these sure get easier to handle when you're in good company. I am very glad to have found this community, in fact.![]()
Occasionally you get lucky and encounter an incompetent hacker, then you get to have some fun. The other day we had a glitchy infiltrator repeatedly pop up in the middle of our defense of some air tower or other. He obviously thought he was invisible but kept popping into existence (at least on my screen) so I enjoyed repeatedly terminating him.
The cheating is really getting ridiculous. Three out of my last four deaths have been by quite obvious cheaters.
And if you want to report them... even if SOE actually checked the reports...
"Player with specified name does not exist"
No, I just always get that. Even if they have super easy names like "walrus7" I type that and... does not exist.
I care, because hackers make the game unfun for a lot of people, that quit to play other games, so your favorite game/server is empty of players. But I other than that, I don't mind then much, if are below some number, so I can completelly forget that exists.
PS2 has others problems,... a single griefer can completelly block a faction by crashing all libs using the warpgate. The engine is high-requirements (=less players) and crash happy (=people quit).
This could explain how I was killed by someone the other day after seeing their name pop up as a kill. Don't think they were hacking, but they may well have been lagging.
Either lagging or their shot just reached you after they died - everyone's managed to be killed by someone in a fight, only to have your final shot kill them too after your kill message shows up, right?
"Swans are so big, they're like the Ostriches of the bird world"
So is it american goon squad? Or Miller one?
Hear from the spirit-world this mystery:
Creation is summed up, O man, in thee;
Angel and demon, man and beast art thou,
Yea, thou art all thou dost appear to be!
Yeah, it's happened to me many times as well, the weird thing about this time was how long it took before I died. Can't have been bullet travel time either, since we were only about 15m apart. It took long enough to see his name pop up as a kill, read it (and register the name, which was the only reason I knew it was the same dude in the kill screen) and think 'ah, got him', as I saw his death animation finish. Then I died![]()
