Age of Empires II (and the expansion, the icon in the link is that of the expansion) and Rise of Nations are instabuys really. They're games that I installed from dodgy disks when I was young in Sri Lanka and played for eons.

Looks like an old Ensemble programmer is working at Valve now. He wanted to access the source so that he could port the game to DirectX9 and remove the online stuff. Looks like he made it.

So, AOE2 has been confirmed. Fez entry in the database updated with purchasing options. Angry Birds Space has just been added to Steam.
What are Microsoft up to? Is this the death knell for GFWL? Seemingly every few days, the leaked list seems to be growing in validity.

Yes, it was. Which is a pity. Because now I'm left with a hankering for a Vampire faction led by Bela Lugosi.

So I saw murmurs on (where else but) GAF regarding Final Fantasy 8 on Steam. Now, 7 and 8 have been in the database for a bit. They also had PC ports back in the day. We obviously know that Square Enix had intentions of re-releasing with them at some point and true enough, they recently made 7 Win7 compatible. (You could certainly make an argument that SE, in trying to make their own DD store, what better game would be able to spear-head it than FF7? Obviously it did as well as it did, although I have no intention, nor care, to see what those numbers were. Regardless, after however many they got from there, they could get a second wind if they put it on Steam because why not? The infrastructure seems to be there and if it's as simple as submitting a folder, well they have one ready to go.)
Anyhow, getting back on point; the above link shows that just recently, achievements were added to FF8's entry (and there's also been another update in the last few hours). So without looking at the database stuff because I can't be bothered, I went onto Steam and looked through the community game hubs, essentially the crux of how this thread came to be in the first place and typed in Final Fantasy 8. No luck. However, in my haste, I didn't stop typing after Final Fantasy because if I had, I'd have noticed amongst the entries for XI and XIV, there's one for VIII. Currently, clicking on it does nothing, but it's there in the database.
So, who knows? But if you like drawing your magic, casting GFs and rapidly hitting a button to boost the damage of them in what will be a tireless exercise, you might be in for a treat soon!
(While I was at it, I also had a look to see if I could find the Halo community game hubs. Typing in Halo gives up Halo: Combat Evolved and 2. No sign of 3 there, but there is for the official player group, although there aren't any for 1 or 2.)
(Also, if anyone can recommend to me a good image hosting site, I'll take pics of these things. Hopefully the details should allow you to try it for yourself though. I've seen imgur used a lot. Is that good?)
EDIT: Heh, and just as I post this, I notice something that should keep everyone's hopes about what's found in check; just because a game is in the database doesn't mean it will come out!

I'll make a separate post for this because it's a new crazy theory I've just had.
ValveTestApp32520 (Star Wars Generic Shooter )
I just remembered that Kotaku recently got a hold of leaked information regarding a SW FPS. It's made reference to being a "downloadable multiplayer shooter" (although for XBLA, I could easily see it being ported) and a prelude to a Battlefront 3. The same article also indicates it was potentially to be released this spring, but obviously there's the whole LucusArts and Disney thing, plus a couple of other tid-bits in the article too.
Maybe the suggestion that the entry for 1313 was wrong. I mean, 1313 had shooting in and you could arguably refer to it as generic for its genre, but it looked more like an action adventure to me and, much like everyone else, closer to Uncharted than a straight up shooter. Then you take this though, which does look like a generic FPS, in the purest sense. Perhaps this is what that database entry was in reference to? Of course, it looks like it won't be coming out now, but as I keep saying in this thread, who knows?
